세 차례에 걸쳐서 음행한 이스라엘의 죄를 고발하시고 심판을 선고하십니다. 이혼이 아니라 관계회복을 바라시는 ‘본 남편’ 하나님의 마음을 담고 있습니다.

[ 호세아 2:1 - 2:13 ] (찬송314장)

1너희 형제에게는 암미라 하고 너희 자매에게는 루하마라 하라

2너희 어머니와 논쟁하고 논쟁하라 그는 내 아내가 아니요 나는 그의 남편이 아니라 그가 그의 얼굴에서 음란을 제하게 하고 그 유방 사이에서 음행을 제하게 하라 3그렇지 아니하면 내가 그를 벌거벗겨서 그 나던 날과 같게 할 것이요 그로 광야 같이 되게 하며 마른 땅 같이 되게 하여 목말라 죽게 할 것이며 4내가 그의 자녀를 긍휼히 여기지 아니하리니 이는 그들이 음란한 자식들임이니라

 5그들의 어머니는 음행하였고 그들을 임신했던 자는 부끄러운 일을 행하였나니 이는 그가 이르기를 나는 나를 사랑하는 자들을 따르리니 그들이 내 떡과 내 물과 내 양털과 내 삼과 내 기름과 내 술들을 내게 준다 하였음이라 6그러므로 내가 가시로 그 길을 막으며 담을 쌓아 그로 그 길을 찾지 못하게 하리니 7그가 그 사랑하는 자를 따라갈지라도 미치지 못하며 그들을 찾을지라도 만나지 못할 것이라 그제야 그가 이르기를 내가 본 남편에게로 돌아가리니 그 때의 내 형편이 지금보다 나았음이라 하리라

 8곡식과 새 포도주와 기름은 내가 그에게 준 것이요 그들이 바알을 위하여 쓴 은과 금도 내가 그에게 더하여 준 것이거늘 그가 알지 못하도다 9그러므로 내가 내 곡식을 그것이 익을 계절에 도로 찾으며 내가 내 새 포도주를 그것이 맛 들 시기에 도로 찾으며 또 그들의 벌거벗은 몸을 가릴 내 양털과 내 삼을 빼앗으리라 10이제 내가 그 수치를 그 사랑하는 자의 눈 앞에 드러내리니 그를 내 손에서 건져낼 사람이 없으리라 11내가 그의 모든 희락과 절기와 월삭과 안식일과 모든 명절을 폐하겠고 12그가 전에 이르기를 이것은 나를 사랑하는 자들이 내게 준 값이라 하던 그 포도나무와 무화과나무를 거칠게 하여 수풀이 되게 하며 들짐승들에게 먹게 하리라 13그가 귀고리와 패물로 장식하고 그가 사랑하는 자를 따라가서 나를 잊어버리고 향을 살라 바알들을 섬긴 시일대로 내가 그에게 벌을 주리라 여호와의 말씀이니라

하나님은 어떤 분입니까?

1절   백성이 돌아오기만 한다면 심판의 이름을 회복의 이름으로 되돌리실 것입니다. 심판의 상징인 ‘이스르엘’을 풍요의 이미지로 바꾸시고(1:11), ‘로루하마’ 대신 ‘루하마’(긍휼히 여김받는 존재), ‘로암미’ 대신 ‘암미’(내 백성)라는 이름으로 백성을 부르실 것입니다. 내가 죄에서 돌이켜 하나님을 찾을 때, 주님도 다정하게 내 이름을 불러주실 것입니다. 

2-4절   이스라엘이 음란한 우상숭배에서 떠날 것을 촉구하십니다. 선지자의 아내가 되었음에도 다른 남자를 따라나서는 고멜처럼, 이스라엘은 하나님의 거룩한 신부가 되었음에도 하나님과 우상을 겸하여 섬기는 음행을 저지르고 있습니다. 창기의 삶을 청산하지 않으면 이스라엘은 땅이 벌거벗겨지고 황폐해지는 심판을 받을 것입니다. 음란한 어미의 자녀가 모욕을 당하듯, 이스라엘을 모태로 삼아 사는 모든 백성이 수치를 당할 것입니다. 돌이킬 수 없는 부부관계처럼 보이지만, ‘논쟁하라’, ‘제하게 하라’는 명령은 하나님이 이스라엘을 포기하지 않으셨음을 암시합니다. 

5-7절   호세아는 음행하는 아내를 율법에 따라 돌로 치기는커녕, 다른 남자에게 가는 길을 가시와 담으로 막아 찾지 못하게 합니다. 그렇게 하나님도 자기 백성이 음란으로 행하는 길을 막아 못 만나고 못 찾게 하실 것입니다. 그렇게 해서라도 ‘본 남편’인 자신에게 돌아오게 하십니다. 성취와 성공을 위해 하나님마저 저버리고 달려온 길에서 가시와 담을 맞닥뜨렸습니까? 나를 절대 포기 못하시겠다는 주님의 마음이 거기 있습니다. 

8-13절   이스라엘은 하나님이 선물로 주신 땅의 부요를 바알에게서 얻은 것이요, 그에게 제의를 바쳐 얻은 대가로 여겼습니다. 하나님은 그것들을 다 빼앗으심으로써 참 주인이 누구인지 알게 하실 것입니다. 바알 숭배의 수단으로 전락한 예배 절기들을 폐하시고, 이스라엘이 하나님을 떠나 외도한 날만큼 수치를

1Say to your brothers, “You are my people,” and to your sisters, “You have received mercy.”2 “Plead with your mother, plead—for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband— that she put away her whoring from her face, and her adultery from between her breasts;3 lest I strip her naked and make her as in the day she was born, and make her like a wilderness, and make her like a parched land, and kill her with thirst.4 Upon her children also I will have no mercy, because they are children of whoredom.5 For their mother has played the whore; she who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’6 Therefore I will hedge up her way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, so that she cannot find her paths.7 She shall pursue her lovers but not overtake them, and she shall seek them but shall not find them. Then she shall say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, for it was better for me then than now.’8 And she did not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the wine, and the oil, and who lavished on her silver and gold, which they used for Baal.9 Therefore I will take back my grain in its time, and my wine in its season, and I will take away my wool and my flax, which were to cover her nakedness.10 Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one shall rescue her out of my hand.11 And I will put an end to all her mirth, her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her appointed feasts.12 And I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, of which she said, ‘These are my wages, which my lovers have given me.’ I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall devour them.13 And I will punish her for the feast days of the Baals when she burned offerings to them and adorned herself with her ring and jewelry, and went after her lovers and forgot me, declares the LORD. 

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding

The marriage between a righteous prophet and an adulterous woman represented the relationship between God and Israel. Hosea’s wife, Gomer, had many lovers (v. 5). She received wages from many of her lovers (v. 12). This was an account of how a prophet’s wife, who was supposed to be chaste, acted like a prostitute. Israel was like an unfaithful wife that abandoned her husband (God) and set her heart on idols. Now, God would take away all of Israel’s abundance (vv. 1-13).

정결한 예언자와 음란한 여인이 이룬 가정의 부부 관계는 바로 하나님과 이스라엘의 관계를 나타냅니다. 호세아의 아내 고멜에게는 “정부들”(5절)이 있습니다. 고멜은 여러 남자들에게 “몸값”(12절)을 받습니다. 정결해야 할 예언자의 아내가 매춘부로 전락해버린 모습입니다. 남편이신 하나님을 버리고 우상과 놀아나는 아내, 이스라엘의 모습 그대로입니다. 이제 하나님은 이스라엘의 모든 풍요를 거두어가실 것입니다(1-13절).

Who is God?

Vv. 5-7 God will block the path towards lust and build a wall against it. He will do this so that Israel will return to her husband (God). What are some things I need to give up in response to a God who will never give up on us?

음란으로 행하는 길을 막고 담을 쌓으실 것입니다. 그렇게 해서라도 ‘본 남편’인 자신에게 돌아오게 하겠다고 하십니다. 우리를 절대 포기하지 못하시는 하나님께 돌아가기 위해 내가 포기해야 할 것들은 무엇입니까?

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 8-13 Israel’s sin stemmed from their failure to recognise where their blessings came from, even though they said they believed in God. They did not see the fruits of the land as a gift from God and offered them to Baal instead. In response, God said He would take back what He had given them. Do I turn to God, knowing clearly that all the things I love are gifts from Him?

이스라엘의 죄악은 하나님을 믿으면서도 자신들의 복이 어디에서 왔는지 알지 못한 데서 비롯되었습니다. 그들은 땅의 결실을 ‘하나님의 선물’이 아니라 바알이 준 ‘제의의 대가’로 여깁니다. 이에 하나님은 그들에게 주신 것을 도로 찾겠다고 하십니다. 내가 사랑하는 모든 것이 하나님이 주신 선물임을 분명히 알고 하나님께로만 향하여 있습니까?

Prayer

Lord, help me to never forget you in the midst of my abundance. Help me to seek you amid my difficulties.
