하나님은 이스라엘의 교만과 방탕한 삶을 지적하시며 한 나라를 일으켜 심판하실 것을 예고하십니다. 이스라엘의 광란은 하나님의 심판으로 그칠 것입니다. 

[ 아모스 6:1 - 6:14 ] (찬송426장)

1화 있을진저 시온에서 교만한 자와 사마리아 산에서 마음이 든든한 자 곧 백성들의 머리인 지도자들이여 이스라엘 집이 그들을 따르는도다 2너희는 갈레로 건너가 보고 거기에서 큰 하맛으로 가고 또 블레셋 사람의 가드로 내려가라 너희가 이 나라들보다 나으냐 그 영토가 너희 영토보다 넓으냐 3너희는 흉한 날이 멀다 하여 포악한 자리로 가까워지게 하고 4상아 상에 누우며 침상에서 기지개 켜며 양 떼에서 어린 양과 우리에서 송아지를 잡아서 먹고 5비파 소리에 맞추어 노래를 지절거리며 다윗처럼 자기를 위하여 악기를 제조하며 6대접으로 포도주를 마시며 귀한 기름을 몸에 바르면서 요셉의 환난에 대하여는 근심하지 아니하는 자로다

 7그러므로 그들이 이제는 사로잡히는 자 중에 앞서 사로잡히리니 기지개 켜는 자의 떠드는 소리가 그치리라 8만군의 하나님 여호와의 말씀이니라 주 여호와가 당신을 두고 맹세하셨노라 내가 야곱의 영광을 싫어하며 그 궁궐들을 미워하므로 이 성읍과 거기에 가득한 것을 원수에게 넘기리라 하셨느니라 9한 집에 열 사람이 남는다 하여도 다 죽을 것이라 10죽은 사람의 친척 곧 그 시체를 불사를 자가 그 뼈를 집 밖으로 가져갈 때에 그 집 깊숙한 곳에 있는 자에게 묻기를 아직 더 있느냐 하면 대답하기를 없다 하리니 그가 또 말하기를 잠잠하라 우리가 여호와의 이름을 부르지 못할 것이라 하리라 11보라 여호와께서 명령하시므로 타격을 받아 큰 집은 갈라지고 작은 집은 터지리라

 12말들이 어찌 바위 위에서 달리겠으며 소가 어찌 거기서 밭 갈겠느냐 그런데 너희는 정의를 쓸개로 바꾸며 공의의 열매를 쓴 쑥으로 바꾸며 13허무한 것을 기뻐하며 이르기를 우리는 우리의 힘으로 뿔들을 취하지 아니하였느냐 하는도다

 14만군의 하나님 여호와의 말씀이니라 이스라엘 족속아 내가 한 나라를 일으켜 너희를 치리니 그들이 하맛 어귀에서부터 아라바 시내까지 너희를 학대하리라 하셨느니라

하나님은 어떤 분입니까?

8-11절   자기 백성이라도 가차 없이 심판하십니다. 심판으로 살아남은 몇 안 되는 사람들마저 심판을 피하지 못합니다. 얼마나 심판이 가혹한지 죽은 사람을 장사지내는 중에 혹시라도 여호와의 이름을 언급할까봐 두려워할 정도입니다. 하나님은 자비롭고 은혜로우시지만 악과 죄를 간과하시는 분이 아닙니다. 하나님의 이름을 부르는 것이 두려움이나 공포가 되지 않도록, 그분의 이름을 존귀케 하는 삶을 삽시다.

내게주시는교훈은무엇입니까?

1-7절   이스라엘 지도자들은 심히 교만하여 폭력을 자행하고 방탕하며 사치스러운 삶을 이어갑니다. 하나님의 심판이 있다고 하여도 무시하고, 약자들을 밟아 강탈한 재물로 사치와 향락을 일삼습니다. 주위엔 자신들의 폭력으로 가난하고 고단한 삶을 살고 있는 형제들이 있는데 상아로 치장된 침대에서 늦잠을 잔 듯 기지개를 켜고 일어나 진귀한 음식에 탐닉합니다. 이웃을 돌아보지 못하고 내 욕심을 채우기에 분주한 삶을 살고 있는 것은 아닌지 돌아봅시다. 우리가 받은 은혜에는 이웃을 향한 책임도 있음을 기억합시다.

10절   하나님의 혹독한 심판이 임한 후에야 이스라엘은 비로소 그것이 하나님께로부터 왔음을 깨달을 것입니다. 처음부터 하나님을 두려워할 줄 알았다면, 그래서 심판 전에 돌이켰다면 심판을 피할 수 있었을 것입니다. 회개는 빨리, 즉시 해야 합니다. 회개를 미루는 것은 죄를 쌓는 것이니, 그러면 결국 더 큰 징벌을 만날 수밖에 없습니다.

12-14절   말도 달려야 할 길을 알고, 소를 모는 사람도 갈아야 할 땅을 아는데 북왕국 이스라엘은 정의도 모르고 공의도 모릅니다. 자신들의 우월함에 취해 하나님을 신뢰할 줄 모르고 방자하고 방탕한 삶을 살아가다가 결국 하나님이 준비하신 한 나라 앗수르에 의해 진멸을 당할 위기에 놓이게 됩니다. 하나님이 요구하시는 삶은 지극히 당연하고 상식적인 것입니다. 하나님만 의지하며 겸손히 말씀을 따라 사는 것과 하나님을 사랑하듯 이

[ Amos 6:1 - 6:14 ]

1“Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who feel secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the first of the nations, to whom the house of Israel comes!2 Pass over to Calneh, and see, and from there go to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Or is their territory greater than your territory,3 O you who put far away the day of disaster and bring near the seat of violence?4 “Woe to those who lie on beds of ivory and stretch themselves out on their couches, and eat lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the stall,5 who sing idle songs to the sound of the harp and like David invent for themselves instruments of music,6 who drink wine in bowls and anoint themselves with the finest oils, but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph!7 Therefore they shall now be the first of those who go into exile, and the revelry of those who stretch themselves out shall pass away.”8 The Lord GOD has sworn by himself, declares the LORD, the God of hosts: “I abhor the pride of Jacob and hate his strongholds, and I will deliver up the city and all that is in it.”9 And if ten men remain in one house, they shall die.10 And when one’s relative, the one who anoints him for burial, shall take him up to bring the bones out of the house, and shall say to him who is in the innermost parts of the house, “Is there still anyone with you?” he shall say, “No”; and he shall say, “Silence! We must not mention the name of the LORD.”11 For behold, the LORD commands, and the great house shall be struck down into fragments, and the little house into bits.12 Do horses run on rocks? Does one plow there with oxen? But you have turned justice into poison and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood—13 you who rejoice in Lo-debar, who say, “Have we not by our own strength captured Karnaim for ourselves?”14 “For behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD, the God of hosts; “and they shall oppress you from Lebo-hamath to the Brook of the Arabah.” 

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding

Judgment is pronounced upon Israel’s leaders who, basking in their abundance and prosperity, took advantage of the powerless. They looked down on the nations around them and boasted of their wealth and power. They did not care about the suffering of the poor. God said they would be the first to be taken captive by foreign nations. They would lose their lives and wealth as they would be captured by foreign armies (vv. 1-14).

풍요와 번영에 젖어 사치와 향락을 일삼으며 힘없는 자들을 착취한 이스라엘 지도층에게 심판을 선고합니다. 그들은 주변 나라들을 무시하고 자신들의 부와 권력을 자랑했습니다. 그들은 가난한 사람들의 아픔에는 관심이 없었습니다. 하나님은 이들이 가장 먼저 이방 나라에 포로로 끌려가고 괴롭힘을 당할 것이라고 하십니다. 외국 군대에 의해 재산과 생명을 잃고 붙잡혀 갈 것입니다(1-14절).

Who is God?

Vv. 7-11, 14 God would first judge the leaders of Israel who had led the way in unrighteousness and indulgence. Their most glorious places would become the most broken places. Knowing that accumulated injustice and sin in a society can lead to national disaster should keep us alert. Even today, God will not overlook those that promote their selfish interests at the expense of others.

불의와 향락에 앞장서던 지도층을 먼저 심판하십니다. 그들의 가장 영광스러운 곳이 가장 수치스런 곳이 될 것입니다. 한 사회에 누적된 불의와 죄악이 국가적 재난을 초래한다는 사실 앞에 경각심을 가져야 합니다. 하나님은 지금도 타인의 희생을 등에 업고 자신의 이익만을 도모하는 세력을 결코 간과하지 않으실 것입니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 3-6, 12 Pursuing wealth and power for their own sake would hasten the day of judgment for them. The leaders of Israel showed no concern or responsibility for those who suffered while they were busy filling their own bellies. Am I as concerned about the lives of my neighbours and brothers as I am about my own life? Having more material wealth is not a privilege to be proud of, but a responsibility to serve well with.

자기만을 위한 부와 권력은 그들만을 위한 ‘폭력의 날’을 앞당기게 될 것입니다. 이스라엘 지도층은 자신의 배만 채우면서도 고통받는 자들에게는 아무런 관심도, 책임도 느끼지 않았습니다. 내 삶의 질만큼이나 내 이웃과 형제의 삶에도 관심을 기울이고 있습니까? 더 많은 누림은 특권이 아니라 책임임을 기억하십시오.

Prayer

Lord, help me to abandon the foolishness of vainly seeking glory. Help me to listen to your voice and the cries of the weak.
