선지자는 과거에 경험한 하나님의 구원을 회상하며, 다시 한번 자신의 억울함을 풀어주시고 원수에게 보복해주시기를 간구합니다. 

[ 예레미야 애가 3:55 - 3:66 ] (찬송363장)

55여호와여 내가 심히 깊은 구덩이에서 주의 이름을 불렀나이다 56주께서 이미 나의 음성을 들으셨사오니 이제 나의 탄식과 부르짖음에 주의 귀를 가리지 마옵소서 57내가 주께 아뢴 날에 주께서 내게 가까이 하여 이르시되 두려워하지 말라 하셨나이다

 58주여 주께서 내 심령의 원통함을 풀어 주셨고 내 생명을 속량하셨나이다 59여호와여 나의 억울함을 보셨사오니 나를 위하여 원통함을 풀어주옵소서 60그들이 내게 보복하며 나를 모해함을 주께서 다 보셨나이다

 61여호와여 그들이 나를 비방하며 나를 모해하는 모든 것 62곧 일어나 나를 치는 자들의 입술에서 나오는 것들과 종일 나를 모해하는 것들을 들으셨나이다 63그들이 앉으나 서나 나를 조롱하여 노래하는 것을 주목하여 보옵소서

 64여호와여 주께서 그들의 손이 행한 대로 그들에게 보응하사 65그들에게 거만한 마음을 주시고 그들에게 저주를 내리소서 66주께서 진노로 그들을 뒤쫓으사 여호와의 하늘 아래에서 멸하소서

55“I called on your name, O LORD, from the depths of the pit;56 you heard my plea, ‘Do not close your ear to my cry for help!’57 You came near when I called on you;  you said, ‘Do not fear!’58 “You have taken up my cause, O Lord; you have redeemed my life.59 You have seen the wrong done to me, O LORD; judge my cause.60 You have seen all their vengeance, all their plots against me.61 “You have heard their taunts, O LORD, all their plots against me.62 The lips and thoughts of my assailants are against me all the day long.63 Behold their sitting and their rising; I am the object of their taunts.64 “You will repay them, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.65 You will give them dullness of heart; your curse will be on them.66 You will pursue them in anger and destroy them from under your heavens, O LORD.” 

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding

Jeremiah remembered that whenever he was in trouble and in need, God had helped him. God listened when he prayed, spoke to him when he cried out, and saved him when his life was in danger (vv. 55-58). Jeremiah prayed that the God who had helped him in the past would come to his aid today. He asked that the injustice done to him and the people of Jerusalem be lifted. He asked God to bring judgment upon the enemies that mocked the groaning people of Israel and their schemes, which sought to destroy Jerusalem (vv. 59-66).

예레미야는 자신이 힘들고 어려울 때마다 하나님이 찾아와 도와주셨다는 사실을 기억합니다. 하나님은 예레미야가 기도할 때 들어주셨고, 부르짖을 때 말씀해주셨고, 목숨이 위태로울 때 구원해주셨습니다(55-58절). 예레미야는 그렇게 과거에 자신을 도우셨던 하나님이 오늘도 찾아와주시길 간구합니다. 예레미야와 예루살렘 백성들이 당한 억울함을 풀어달라고 간청합니다. 예루살렘을 멸망시킨 원수들이 꾸민 음모를 심판해달라고, 신음하는 백성들을 비웃고 있는 대적들을 처단해달라고 기도합니다(59-66절).

Who is God?

Vv. 55-58 God heard the cries of His people and saved them. It is God’s nature to defend, protect, and rescue His people who suffer without cause (v. 52), as long as their iniquities do not make a separation between them and Himself (Isa. 59:2). God’s heart for His people never changes.

자기 백성의 울부짖는 소리를 들으시고 구원하십니다. 하나님은 까닭 없이 고통을 겪는(52절) 자기 백성을 지키시고 보호하시고 구출하시는 분입니다. 죄가 하나님과 나 사이를 갈라놓지만 않는다면 말입니다(사 59:2). 자기 백성을 위하시는 하나님의 본심은 변하지 않습니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 59-66 As we remember past grace, we can expect future grace. Remember the grace God has shown you in the past because God is faithful. He is giving out the same grace now.

과거의 은혜를 기억할 때 앞날의 은혜를 기대할 수 있습니다. 하나님은 신실하시기 때문입니다. 하나님이 전에 베푸신 은혜를 기억해보십시오. 지금도 똑같은 은혜를 베풀고 계십니다.
