선지자는 예루살렘이 갈대아 사람들에게 어떤 수욕을 당하고 있는지 소상히 아뢰고, 주께서 이 참상을 기억하고 돌아봐주시기를 간구합니다.

[ 예레미야 애가 5:1 - 5:10 ] (찬송341장)

1여호와여 우리가 당한 것을 기억하시고 우리가 받은 치욕을 살펴보옵소서 2우리의 기업이 외인들에게, 우리의 집들도 이방인들에게 돌아갔나이다 3우리는 아버지 없는 고아들이오며 우리의 어머니는 과부들 같으니 4우리가 은을 주고 물을 마시며 값을 주고 나무들을 가져오며 5우리를 뒤쫓는 자들이 우리의 목을 눌렀사오니 우리가 기진하여 쉴 수 없나이다

 6우리가 애굽 사람과 앗수르 사람과 악수하고 양식을 얻어 배불리고자 하였나이다 7우리의 조상들은 범죄하고 없어졌으며 우리는 그들의 죄악을 담당하였나이다

 8종들이 우리를 지배함이여 그들의 손에서 건져낼 자가 없나이다 9광야에는 칼이 있으므로 죽기를 무릅써야 양식을 얻사오니 10굶주림의 열기로 말미암아 우리의 피부가 아궁이처럼 검으니이다

1Remember, O LORD, what has befallen us; look, and see our disgrace!2 Our inheritance has been urned over to strangers, our homes to foreigners.3 We have become orphans, fatherless; our mothers are like widows.4 We must pay for the water we drink; the wood we get must be bought.5 Our pursuers are at our necks; we are weary; we are given no rest.6 We have given the hand to Egypt, and to Assyria, to get bread enough.7 Our fathers sinned, and are no more; and we bear their iniquities.8 Slaves rule over us; there is none to deliver us from their hand.9 We get our bread at the peril of our lives, because of the sword in the wilderness.10 Our skin is hot as an oven with the burning heat of famine. 

Thinking & Understanding

Jeremiah once again described the miserable conditions of the destroyed city of Jerusalem and pleaded with God to remember, be concerned, and care for them. Jerusalem had lost its freedom and rest; it had no food and was forced in exile to other nations. Their safety net had collapsed; they were in a risky situation. Jeremiah admitted the sins of their ancestors had become their burden (vv. 1-10). 

예레미야는 멸망당한 예루살렘의 비참한 상황을 다시 한번 묘사하며, 하나님이 기억해 주시고, 관심을 가지고, 헤아려 주시기를 간청합니다. 예루살렘은 자유와 쉼도 잃어버렸습니다. 먹을 것도 없어서 다른 나라를 기웃거려야 했습니다. 사회 안전망이 무너져 살기 위해 목숨을 걸어야 하는 상황이 되었습니다. 예레미야는 이 모든 참상의 원인이 조상들의 죄 때문이라고 고백합니다(1-10절).

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 4-5 The lives of the people who have lost all their privileges were difficult and burdensome. The absence of God had led to a loss of rest. Some may think that a world without God would be filled with freedom, but it actually becomes a playground for tyrants. A life anchored in God’s Word is the way to true freedom and true rest. Today, enjoy the riches, freedom, and rest that can be found only in the Word.

기업을 잃은 백성들의 삶은 곤궁하고 피곤합니다. 하나님의 부재가 안식의 상실로 이어진 것입니다. 하나님 없는 세상이 자유를 줄 것 같지만, 그 세상은 폭군의 놀이터가 되기 십상입니다. 하나님의 말씀에 붙들린 삶이 참된 자유를 누리며 진정한 쉼을 얻는 길입니다. 오늘 하루, 말씀이 주는 풍요와 자유와 안식을 누립시다.

Vv. 6-7 Because our relationship with God is the essence of the problem, it cannot be solved by anything else. The people of Judah were chastened by God and tried to solve their problems with the aid from nations like Egypt and Assyria, but it was to no avail. Where do you look for solutions when facing problems? 

하나님과의 관계가 문제의 본질이기 때문에 다른 것으로 해결할 수 없습니다. 유다 백성은 하나님께 징계를 받으면서도 이집트와 앗시리아 같은 열국의 원조로 문제를 해결하려 했으나 아무 소용이 없었습니다. 문제 상황을 마주한 인생의 돌파구를 어디에서 찾고 있습니까?

Prayer

Lord God, help me abide in your Word each day and enjoy the peace and rest you give.
