Biblical Authority (성경의 권위) 성경은 하나님의 감동으로 되었고 하나님자신의 절대적 권위를 가지고 있으므로 우리의 신앙과 모든 믿음생활의 전 영역에 최종적인 권위를 가진다. 그 어떤 인간의 신조, 신학, 신앙고백도 성경의 권위를 대신할 수 없다

Autonomy of the Local Church(교회의 자치권) 모든 침례교회는 주님께서 머리 되신 몸으로서 주님께 속한 독립적인 몸이다. 그 어떤 국가기관이나 사회제도, 혹은 종교적 단체(교단)도 개 교회를 지배할 수 없다. 다만 자발적으로 교회들과 연합할 뿐이다.

Priesthood of the Believer (신자의 제사장 직분) 모든 그리스도인은 하나님 앞에서 모든 의식을 담당할 제사장적 직분을 가지고 있다. 하나님과 신자 사이에 그 어떤 중재자도 필요 없다. 모든 신자는 목회자 여부를 떠나서 누구든지 하나님 앞에 동등하게 나아갈 수 있다.

Two Ordinances (두 가지 의식) 주님께서 교회에서 명하신 의식은 침례와 주님의 만찬뿐이다. 침례는 주님과 함께 죽고 장사되고 부활한 믿음을 상징하고, 주님의 만찬은 우리의 죄를 대속하신 주님의 죽음을 기념하는 것이다. 

Individual Soul Liberty (영혼의 자유) 모든 사람은 신자이건 아니건 간에 자신의 종교적 영역에 있어서 자유를 가진다. 아무도 개인의 의사에 반하여 믿음을 강제하거나 핍박할 수 없다.

Saved, Baptized Church Membership (교회회원: 구원 받고 침례 받은 자) 침례교회의 정회원이 되기 위해서는 자신의 신앙을 공개적으로 고백하고 주님의 모본을 따라 침례로 그 신앙을 선포한 자라야 한다.

Two Offices (두 가지 직분) 주님께서 교회에게 주신 직분은 목사와 집사 뿐이다. 목사, 장로, 감독 이 세 가지 명칭은 목회자의 직분을 일컫는 다른 단어일 뿐이다. 초대교회에서 장로는 유대인교회의 목회자, 감독은 이방인 교회의 목회자 이었다. 단 목사와 집사의 직분은 교회 안팎에서 수직적 권위를 행사하는 직분이 아니다.

Separation of Church and State 교회와 국가의 분리) 하나님은 교회와 정부를 공히 세우시고 각각 특별한 부분을 담당하게 하셨다. 그러므로 이것들은 서로 지배하거나 연합할 수 없다. 교회는 정부가 신앙을 방해하지 않는 한 사회에 정의를 실현하도록 영향을 끼쳐야 한다.

It is very important to understand that not all Baptist folks worship in the same style, but
all "True Baptists" believe in these eight Baptist Distinctives! It is what makes us Baptist.
These teachings may be remembered by association them with the letters that form the
word "Baptists."

Biblical Authority - The Bible is the final authority in all matters of belief and practice
because the Bible is inspired by God and bears the absolute authority of God Himself.
Whatever the Bible affirms, Baptists accept as true. No human opinion or decree of any
church group can override the Bible. Even creeds and confessions of faith which
attempt to articulate the theology of Scripture do not carry Scripture's inherent authority.
2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:20, 21

Autonomy of the Local Church - The local church is an independent body
accountable to the Lord Jesus Christ, the head of the church. All human authority for
governing the local church resides within the local church itself. Thus the church is
autonomous, or self-governing. No religious hierarchy outside the local church may
dictate a church's beliefs or practices. Autonomy does not mean isolation. A Baptist
church may fellowship with other churches around mutual interests and in an
associational tie, but a Baptist church cannot be a "member" of any other body.

Priesthood of the Believer - "Priest" is defined as "one authorized to perform the
sacred rites of a religion, especially as a mediatory agent between humans and God."
Every believer today is a priest of God and may enter into His presence in prayer
directly through our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. No other mediator is needed
between God and people. As priests, we can study God's Word, pray for others, and
offer spiritual worship to God. We all have equal access to God-whether we are a
preacher or not. 1 Peter 2:5, 9; Revelation 5:9, 10

Two Ordinances - The local church should practice two ordinances: (1) baptism of
believers by immersion in water, identifying the individual with Christ in His death, burial,
and resurrection, and (2) the Lord's Supper, or communion, commemorating His death
for our sins. Matthew 28:19, 20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-32

Individual Soul Liberty - Every individual, whether a believer or an unbeliever, has the
liberty to choose what he believes is right in the religious realm. No one should be
forced to assent to any belief against his will. Baptist have always opposed religious
persecution. However, this liberty does not exempt one from responsibility to the Word
of God or from accountability to God Himself. Romans 14:5, 12; 2 Corinthians 4:2;
Titus 1:9

Saved, Baptized Church Membership -Local church membership is restricted to
individuals who give a believable testimony of personal faith in Christ and have publicly
identified themselves with Him in believer's baptism. When the members of a local
church are believers, a oneness in Christ exists, and the members can endeavor to
keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Acts 2:41-47; 1 Corinthians 12:12; 2
Corinthians 6:14; Ephesians 4:3.

Two Offices - The Bible mandates only two offices in the church-pastor and deacon.
The three terms - "pastor," "elder," and "bishop," or "overseer" - all refer to the same
office. The two offices of pastor and deacon exist within the local church, not as a
hierarchy outside or over the local church. I Timothy 3:1-13; Acts 20:17-38;
Philippians 1:1

Separation of Church and State - God established both the church and the civil
government, and He gave each its own distinct sphere of operation. The government's
purposes are outlined in Romans 13:1-7 and the church's purposes in Matthew 28:19-
20. Neither should control the other, nor should there be an alliance between the two.
Christians in a free society can properly influence government towards righteousness,
which is not the same as a denomination or group of churches controlling the government. Matthew 22:15-22; Acts 15:17-29
