씨 뿌리는 자 비유와 곡식과 가라지 비유를 통해, 복음을 거부하고 방해하는 세상에서도 끝까지 인내하며 천국을 선포할 것을 격려하십니다.

[ 마태복음 13:18 - 13:30 ] (찬송340장)

18그런즉 씨 뿌리는 비유를 들으라 19아무나 천국 말씀을 듣고 깨닫지 못할 때는 악한 자가 와서 그 마음에 뿌려진 것을 빼앗나니 이는 곧 길 가에 뿌려진 자요

 20돌밭에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 즉시 기쁨으로 받되 21그 속에 뿌리가 없어 잠시 견디다가 말씀으로 말미암아 환난이나 박해가 일어날 때에는 곧 넘어지는 자요

 22가시떨기에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 들으나 세상의 염려와 재물의 유혹에 말씀이 막혀 결실하지 못하는 자요

 23좋은 땅에 뿌려졌다는 것은 말씀을 듣고 깨닫는 자니 결실하여 어떤 것은 백 배, 어떤 것은 육십 배, 어떤 것은 삼십 배가 되느니라 하시더라

 24예수께서 그들 앞에 또 비유를 들어 이르시되 천국은 좋은 씨를 제 밭에 뿌린 사람과 같으니 25사람들이 잘 때에 그 원수가 와서 곡식 가운데 가라지를 덧뿌리고 갔더니 26싹이 나고 결실할 때에 가라지도 보이거늘

 27집 주인의 종들이 와서 말하되 주여 밭에 좋은 씨를 뿌리지 아니하였나이까 그런데 가라지가 어디서 생겼나이까 28주인이 이르되 원수가 이렇게 하였구나 종들이 말하되 그러면 우리가 가서 이것을 뽑기를 원하시나이까 29주인이 이르되 가만 두라 가라지를 뽑다가 곡식까지 뽑을까 염려하노라 30둘 다 추수 때까지 함께 자라게 두라 추수 때에 내가 추수꾼들에게 말하기를 가라지는 먼저 거두어 불사르게 단으로 묶고 곡식은 모아 내 곳간에 넣으라 하리라

18“Hear then the parable of the sower:19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.20 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy,21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away.22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful.23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”24 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field,25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat and went away.26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.27 And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’29 But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

Thinking & Understanding

Jesus explained the meaning of the parable of the sower. The ‘path’ represented those who did not understand the Word, the ‘rocky ground’ represented those who struggled to hold onto the Word because of hardship, the ‘thorns’ represented those who failed to apply the Word to their actions because of their cares and temptations, and the ‘good soil’ represented those who understood the Word, kept it well and bore fruit by putting it into practice (vv. 18-23). Jesus explained the reason for the existence of wickedness in the world where God’s kingdom has been established through the parable of the wheat and weeds. God was withholding his judgement to protect his people, but when the time came, he would save the righteous and punish the wicked (vv. 24-30). 

Who is God?

V. 30 God allows the weeds to grow among the wheat. However, the more time passes, the more easily the weed can be distinguished from the wheat. This is because they are exposed by the fruit they bear. As God’s judgement is certain, there is no need to worry about the weeds. Instead, let’s devote our efforts to bearing good and abundant fruit. 

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 24-26 In the world, weeds exist alongside the wheat. The owner of the field sowed seeds to reap fruit, but enemies sowed weeds to destroy the field. In our hearts and in the world that we live in, the Word is at work, but so are Satan’s temptations. If we grow careless and inattentive, we can easily stumble over temptations. 

Prayer

Lord, help me to overcome the selfishness and greed in my heart that interferes with the fruit of the Word.
