나아만이 치유 받은 장소인 ‘요단강’과 그의 나라인 ‘아람’과 관련된 두 가지 일화입니다. 모두 어떤 위기 상황에서든 가장 먼저 찾아야 할 분이 하나님이라는 것을 보여줍니다. 

[ 열왕기하 6:1 - 6:14 ] (찬송310장)

1선지자의 제자들이 엘리사에게 이르되 보소서 우리가 당신과 함께 거주하는 이 곳이 우리에게는 좁으니 2우리가 요단으로 가서 거기서 각각 한 재목을 가져다가 그 곳에 우리가 거주할 처소를 세우사이다 하니 엘리사가 이르되 가라 하는지라 3그 하나가 이르되 청하건대 당신도 종들과 함께 하소서 하니 엘리사가 이르되 내가 가리라 하고 4드디어 그들과 함께 가니라 무리가 요단에 이르러 나무를 베더니 5한 사람이 나무를 벨 때에 쇠도끼가 물에 떨어진지라 이에 외쳐 이르되 아아, 내 주여 이는 빌려온 것이니이다 하니 6하나님의 사람이 이르되 어디 빠졌느냐 하매 그 곳을 보이는지라 엘리사가 나뭇가지를 베어 물에 던져 쇠도끼를 떠오르게 하고 7이르되 너는 그것을 집으라 하니 그 사람이 손을 내밀어 그것을 집으니라

 8그 때에 아람 왕이 이스라엘과 더불어 싸우며 그의 신복들과 의논하여 이르기를 우리가 아무데 아무데 진을 치리라 하였더니 9하나님의 사람이 이스라엘 왕에게 보내 이르되 왕은 삼가 아무 곳으로 지나가지 마소서 아람 사람이 그 곳으로 나오나이다 하는지라 10이스라엘 왕이 하나님의 사람이 자기에게 말하여 경계한 곳으로 사람을 보내 방비하기가 한두 번이 아닌지라 11이러므로 아람 왕의 마음이 불안하여 그 신복들을 불러 이르되 우리 중에 누가 이스라엘 왕과 내통하는 것을 내게 말하지 아니하느냐 하니 12그 신복 중의 한 사람이 이르되 우리 주 왕이여 아니로소이다 오직 이스라엘 선지자 엘리사가 왕이 침실에서 하신 말씀을 이스라엘의 왕에게 고하나이다 하는지라 13왕이 이르되 너희는 가서 엘리사가 어디 있나 보라 내가 사람을 보내어 그를 잡으리라 왕에게 아뢰어 이르되 보라 그가 도단에 있도다 하나이다 14왕이 이에 말과 병거와 많은 군사를 보내매 그들이 밤에 가서 그 성읍을 에워쌌더라

[ 2 Kings 6:1 - 6:14 ]

1Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us.2 Let us go to the Jordan and each of us get there a log, and let us make a place for us to dwell there.” And he answered, “Go.”3 Then one of them said, “Be pleased to go with your servants.” And he answered, “I will go.”4 So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.5 But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out, “Alas, my master! It was borrowed.”6 Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float.7 And he said, “Take it up.” So he reached out his hand and took it.8 Once when the king of Syria was warring against Israel, he took counsel with his servants, saying, “At such and such a place shall be my camp.”9 But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are going down there.”10 And the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God told him. Thus he used to warn him, so that he saved himself there more than once or twice.11 And the mind of the king of Syria was greatly troubled because of this thing, and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not show me who of us is for the king of Israel?”12 And one of his servants said, “None, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”13 And he said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and seize him.” It was told him, “Behold, he is in Dothan.”14 So he sent there horses and chariots and a great army, and they came by night and surrounded the city.
