하나님 바라보기 Seeing God [ 출애굽기 34:1 - 34:9 ] - 찬송가 65장

여호와는 노하기를 더디 하시고 인자가 많아 죄악과 허물을 사하시나 형벌 받을 자는 결단코 사하지 아니하시고  민수기 14:18

풍자만화 화가들이 공공장소에 이젤을 설치하고, 자신을 유머러스하게 그려주는 대가로 기꺼이 작은 돈을 지불하는 사람들에게 그림을 그려줍니다. 그들은 우리의 겉모습 중 한두 가지 특징을 과장해서 알아보기 쉽고 우습게 그리기 때문에 우리는 그 그림을 보며 즐거워합니다.
반면, 하나님을 그렇게 그리는 것은 우스꽝스럽지 않습니다. 하나님의 속성 중 하나를 과장하는 것은 사람들이 쉽게 무시해버리는 왜곡된 시각을 제공합니다. 그런 그림 같이 하나님에 대한 왜곡된 시각은 심각하게 받아들여지지 않습니다. 화가 나 있고 요구가 지나친 재판관의 모습으로 그려진 하나님을 보는 사람들은 자비를 강조하는 다른 이로부터 쉽게 유혹을 받습니다. 하나님을 인자한 할아버지의 모습으로 보는 사람들은 그들이 정의가 필요할 때에는 그 인자한 이미지를 거부할 것입니다. 하나님을 살아있고 사랑이 넘치는 존재로 여기기보다는 지적인 개념으로 보는 사람들은 결국에는 보다 매력적인 다른 개념들을 찾게 됩니다. 하나님을 최고의 친구로 간주하는 사람들은 그들의 기호에 더 맞는 사람 친구들을 만나게 되면 종종 하나님을 떠나고 맙니다.
하나님은 그분 자신을 자비와 은혜가 풍성하지만, 또한 죄인을 벌하는 의로운 분이라고 말씀하십니다(출 34:6-7).
우리가 믿음을 행동으로 옮길 때, 하나님을 단지 우리가 좋아하는 속성들만 가진 분으로 그리는 것을 피해야 합니다. 우리는 우리가 좋아하는 것만이 아닌, 하나님의 모든 것을 경배해야 합니다.

 
• 성부, 성자, 성령 하나님을 경배합니다. 하나님은 거룩하시며 의로우시며, 온유하시고, 사랑이 많으십니다. 주님만이 홀로 하나님이십니다.
하나님만이 홀로 하나님이시다.

1. 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 너는 돌판 둘을 처음 것과 같이 다듬어 만들라 네가 깨뜨린 처음 판에 있던 말을 내가 그 판에 쓰리니
2. 아침까지 준비하고 아침에 시내 산에 올라와 산 꼭대기에서 내게 보이되
3. 아무도 너와 함께 오르지 말며 온 산에 아무도 나타나지 못하게 하고 양과 소도 산 앞에서 먹지 못하게 하라
4. 모세가 돌판 둘을 처음 것과 같이 깎아 만들고 아침에 일찍이 일어나 그 두 돌판을 손에 들고 여호와의 명령대로 시내 산에 올라가니
5. 여호와께서 구름 가운데에 강림하사 그와 함께 거기 서서 여호와의 이름을 선포하실새
6. 여호와께서 그의 앞으로 지나시며 선포하시되 여호와라 여호와라 자비롭고 은혜롭고 노하기를 더디하고 인자와 진실이 많은 하나님이라
7. 인자를 천대까지 베풀며 악과 과실과 죄를 용서하리라 그러나 벌을 면제하지는 아니하고 아버지의 악행을 자손 삼사 대까지 보응하리라
8. 모세가 급히 땅에 엎드려 경배하며
9. 이르되 주여 내가 주께 은총을 입었거든 원하건대 주는 우리와 동행하옵소서 이는 목이 뻣뻣한 백성이니이다 우리의 악과 죄를 사하시고 우리를

The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished. Numbers 14:18

Caricature artists set up their easels in public places and draw pictures of people who are willing to pay a modest price for a humorous image of themselves. Their drawings amuse us because they exaggerate one or more of our physical features in a way that is recognizable but funny.
Caricatures of God, on the other hand, are not funny. Exaggerating one of His attributes presents a distorted view that people easily dismiss. Like a caricature, a distorted view of God is not taken seriously. Those who see God portrayed only as an angry and demanding judge are easily lured away by someone who emphasizes mercy. Those who see God as a kindhearted grandfather will reject that image when they need justice. Those who see God as an intellectual idea rather than a living, loving being eventually find other ideas more appealing. Those who see God as a best friend often leave Him behind when they find human friends who are more to their liking.
God declares Himself to be merciful and gracious, but also just in punishing the guilty(Ex. 34:6–7).
As we put our faith into action, we need to avoid portraying God as having only our favorite attributes. We must worship all of God, not just what we like. Julie Ackerman Link

 
• Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I worship You. You are holy, just, kind, and loving. You are God alone.
God is God alone.

1. The LORD said to Moses, "Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.
2. Be ready in the morning, and then come up on Mount Sinai. Present yourself to me there on top of the mountain.
3. No one is to come with you or be seen anywhere on the mountain; not even the flocks and herds may graze in front of the mountain."
4. So Moses chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones and went up Mount Sinai early in the morning, as the LORD had commanded him; and he carried the two stone tablets in his hands.
5. Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD.
6. And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,
7. maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
8. Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped.
9. "O Lord, if I have found favor in your eyes," he said, "then let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wickedness and our sin, and take us as your inheritance."
