고난 속의 능력, Strength in the Suffering (베드로 전서 2:11-23) (찬송가 498장)
그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라오게 하려하셨느니라.(벧드로전서 2:21)
열여덟 살의 새미가 예수님을 구주로 영접하자 가족들은 그것이 가족의 전통과 다른 신앙이라는 이유로 새미를 버렸습니다. 하지만 기독교 공동체에서는 그를 맞이하여 격려하고 학비도 지워해 주었습니다. 훗날 그의 간증이 잡지에 실렸을 때 그에 대한 박해는 더욱 심해졌습니다.
그러나 새미는 가족들과 계속 만나려는 노력을 멈추지 않았습니다. 형제들이 그를 가족 행사에 오지 못하도록 무자비하게 막았음에도 불구하고 그는 할 수 있을 때마다 가족을 방문했고 아버지와 대화를 나누었습니다. 아버지가 병들었을 때 새미는 가족들의 조롱에 신경쓰지 않고 아버지는 찾아가 회복되기를 기도했습니다. 하나님이 아버지를 고쳐 주시자 가족들은 새미를 행해 따뜻한 마음을 갖기 시작했습니다. 사랑이 넘치는 그의 모습은 시간이 흐르면서 그를 대하는 가족의 태도를 누그려 뜨렸고, 가족 중 몇명은 예수님에 대해 알고 싶어 하게 되었습니다.
그리스도를 따르겠다는 결정을 하게 되면 우리에게 어려움이 닥칠 수도 있습니다. 베드로는 "억울하게 고난을 당하더라도 하나님을 생각하면서 괴로움을 접으면, 그것은 아름다운 일입니다."(베드로전서 2:19, 새번역)라고 기록했습니다. 우리가 우리의 믿음 때문에 불편함이나 고난을 겪으면 그것은 "그리스도도 (우리)를 위하여 고난을 받으사 (우리)에게 본을 끼쳐 (우리로)그 자취를 따라오게 하려 하셨기 때문"(21절) 입니다.
사람들이 예수님께 모욕을 퍼부었을 때에도 주님은 "모욕으로 갚지 않으시고 고난을 당하셨으나 위협하지 않으시고 정의롭게 심판하시는 이에게 맡기셨습니다."(23절, 새번역), 예수님은 우리가 고난을 당할 때 본보기가 되십니다. 우리는 주님을 바라보며 힘을 얻을 수 있습니다.

13. 인간의 모든 제도를 주를 위하여 순종하되 혹은 위헤 있는 왕이나
14. 혹은 그가 악행하는 자를 징벌하고 선행하는 자를 포상하기 위하여 보낸 총독에게 하라.
15. 곧 선행으로 어리석은 사람들의 무식한 말을 막으시는 것이라.
16. 너희는 자유가 있으나 그 자유로 악을 가리는 데 쓰지 말고 오직 하나님의 종과 같이 하라.
17. 뭇 사람을 공경하며 형제를 사랑하며 하나님을 두려워하며 왕을 존대하라.
18. 사환들아 범사에 두려워함으로 주인들에게 순종하되 선하고 관영하는 자들에게만 아니라 또한 까다로운 자들에게도 그리하라.
19. 부당하게 고난을 받아도 하나님을 생각함으로 슬픔을 참으면 이는 아름다우나
20. 죄가 있어 매를 맞고 참으면 무슨 칭찬이 있으리요. 그러나 선을 행함으로 고난을 받고 참으면 이는 하나님 앞에 아름다우니라.
21. 이를 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았으니 그리스도도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으사 너희에게 본을 끼쳐 그 자취를 따라오게 하려 하셨느니라.
22. 그는 죄를 범치 아니하시고 그 입에 거짓도 없으시며
23. 욕을 당하시되 맞대어 욕하지 아니하시고 고난을 당하시되 위협하지 아니하시고 오직 공의로 심판하시는 이에게 부탁하시며...

Strength in Suffering( 1 Peter 2:11-23)
Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. (1 Peter 2:21)
When eighteen-year-old Sammy received Jesus as Savior, his family rejected him because their tradition was of a different faith. But Christian community welcomed him, offering encouragement and financial resources for his education. Later, when his testimony was published in a magazine, his persecution intensified.
But Sammy did not stop seeing his family. He visited whenever he could and talked with his father, even though his siblings cruelty prevented him from participating in family affairs. When his father fell ill, Sammy overlooked his family's slighting and attended to him prying his father would get well. When God healed him, the family began to warm up toward Sammy. Over time, his loving witness softened their attitude toward him --and some of his family members became willing to hear about Jesus.
Our decision to follow Christ may cause us difficulties. Peter wrote, "It is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God"(1 Peter 2:19). When we undergo discomfort or suffering because of our faith, we do so because "Christ suffered for (us), leaving (us) an example, that (we) should follow in his stems"(v 21).
Even when others hurled insults at Jesus, "he did not retaliated; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly"(v 23). Jesus is our example in suffering. We can turn to Him for strength. Lawrence Darman

11. Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.
12. Live such good lives among he pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see you good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.
13. Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men; whether to the king as the supreme authority,
14. or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right
15. For it is God'will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.
16. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
17. Show proper respect to everyone; Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
18. Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect not only th those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.
19. For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God
20, But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God
21. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you and example, that you should follow in his steps.
22"He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
23. When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

그리스도인은 영원한 본향을 찾아가는 자들이므로 이 땅에서 마치 나그네이며 행인 같은 존재입니다.
비록 잠간 머물 곳이지만 세상사람들에게 아름다운 삶의 모범이 되고 선한 흔적을 남기는 것이 우리의 사명입니다.
베드로 형님을 통해서 주신 말씀은 곧 그리스도인은 선(하나님의 뜻)을 위해서 선택 받은 사람이기 때문입니다.
그리고 이를 실천하기 위해서는 고난이 따르는 것이 당연하다는 것이지요.
주 예수님께서 십자가에서 하나님의 뜻을 이루기 위해서 고난을 받으신 것이 그 모범입니다.
악을 악으로 갚지 아니하시고 오직 하나님의 심판에 맡겨드리며 순종하셨습니다.
주님께서 제자된 우리들에게 분부하신 말씀이 있습니다.
아무든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 날마다 제 십자가를 지고 나를 좇을 것이니라.(눅 9:23)
오늘 이 삶의 현장에서 내게 주신 하나님의 뜻을 이루어드리기 위해서 그 어떤 고난도 기쁨으로 감당하기를 기도합니다.
그것이 주님께서 앞서가신 발자취를 따라가는 영광의 길임을 알기에 말입니다.
오늘 주님의 날입니다.
부활하신 주님을 기리며 우리 서로 사랑을 확인하는 예배모임이 되기를 기도합니다.
주님께서 성령으로 친히 임재하셔서 영광을 받으실 것을 믿습니다. 할렐루야 !!!!
