찬양을 받으실 분 Someone to Celebrate [ 마태복음 2:1 - 2:12 ] - 찬송가 67장
오라 우리가 굽혀 경배하며 우리를 지으신 여호와 앞에 무릎을 꿇자 시편 95:6
많은 말구유 장면들은 동방박사들이 목자들과 같은 시간에 베들레헴에 계신 예수님을 찾아간 것으로 묘사하고 있습니다. 그러나 동방박사들의 이야기가 성경에 유일하게 기록된 마태복음을 보면 그들은 나중에 등장합니다. 예수님은 더 이상 여관 마구간의 말구유에 누워있지 않고 집 안에 계셨습니다. 마태복음 2장 11절에는 “집에 들어가 아기와 그의 어머니 마리아가 함께 있는 것을 보고 엎드려 아기께 경배하고 보배합을 열어 황금과 유향과 몰약을 예물로 드리니라”라고 기록되어 있습니다.
동방박사의 방문이 우리가 생각하는 것보다 뒤에 일어났다는 것을 알고, 우리가 새해를 시작할 때 그 사실을 기억하면 도움이 됩니다. 예수님은 언제나 경배 받으실만한 분입니다. 연말연시의 휴가가 지나가고 매일의 일상으로 돌아올 때에도 우리에게는 여전히 찬양드릴 분이 있습니다.
예수 그리스도는 모든 계절에 “하나님이 우리와 함께 계시다”(마 1:23)를 뜻하는 ‘임마누엘’이 되십니다. 주님은 우리와 “항상” 함께 있으리라고 약속하셨습니다(마 28:20). 예수님이 우리와 항상 함께 계시기 때문에, 우리는 다가올 많은 날 동안 주님께서 자신을 신실하게 보여주실 것을 믿으며 매일 전심으로 주님을 예배할 수 있습니다. 동방박사들이 예수님을 찾았던 것처럼 우리도 어디에서나 주님을 찾고 경배해야 합니다.
• 주 예수님, 동방박사들이 오실 왕으로 주님을 찾고 그 앞에 엎드렸던 것처럼, 내가 내 의지를 주님 앞에 내려놓고 주님이 이끄시는 대로 따라가게 하소서.
우리도 그리스도를 찾아 경배를 드리자.
1. 헤롯 왕 때에 예수께서 유대 베들레헴에서 나시매 동방으로부터 박사들이 예루살렘에 이르러 말하되
2. 유대인의 왕으로 나신 이가 어디 계시냐 우리가 동방에서 그의 별을 보고 그에게 경배하러 왔노라 하니
3. 헤롯 왕과 온 예루살렘이 듣고 소동한지라
4. 왕이 모든 대제사장과 백성의 서기관들을 모아 그리스도가 어디서 나겠느냐 물으니
5. 이르되 유대 베들레헴이오니 이는 선지자로 이렇게 기록된 바
6. 또 유대 땅 베들레헴아 너는 유대 고을 중에서 가장 작지 아니하도다 네게서 한 다스리는 자가 나와서 내 백성 이스라엘의 목자가 되리라 하였음이니이다
7. 이에 헤롯이 가만히 박사들을 불러 별이 나타난 때를 자세히 묻고
8. 베들레헴으로 보내며 이르되 가서 아기에 대하여 자세히 알아보고 찾거든 내게 고하여 나도 가서 그에게 경배하게 하라
9. 박사들이 왕의 말을 듣고 갈새 동방에서 보던 그 별이 문득 앞서 인도하여 가다가 아기 있는 곳 위에 머물러 서 있는지라
10. 그들이 별을 보고 매우 크게 기뻐하고 기뻐하더라
11. 집에 들어가 아기와 그의 어머니 마리아가 함께 있는 것을 보고 엎드려 아기께 경배하고 보배합을 열어 황금과 유향과 몰약을 예물로 드리니라
12. 그들은 꿈에 헤롯에게로 돌아가지 말라 지시하심을 받아 다른 길로 고국에 돌아가니라

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.
Psalm 95:6
Many manger scenes depict the wise men, or magi, visiting Jesus in Bethlehem at the same time as the shepherds. But according to the gospel of Matthew, the only place in Scripture where their story is found, the magi showed up later. Jesus was no longer in the manger in a stable at the inn, but in a house. Matthew 2:11 tells us, “On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.”
Realizing that the magi’s visit happened later than we may think provides a helpful reminder as we begin a new year. Jesus is always worthy of worship. When the holidays are past and we head back to life’s everyday routines, we still have Someone to celebrate.
Jesus Christ is Immanuel, “God with us” (Matt. 1:23), in every season. He has promised to be with us “always” (28:20). Because He is always with us, we can worship Him in our hearts every day and trust that He will show Himself faithful in the years to come. • Lord Jesus, just as the magi sought You and bowed before You as the coming King, help me to yield my will to You and to follow where You lead.
When we find Christ we offer our worship.
1. After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem
2. and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."
3. When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.
4. When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.
5. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written:
6. "`But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'"
7. Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.
8. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."
9. After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.
10. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
11. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
12. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

동방의 박사들이 그 먼 길을 예수님을 찾아온 것은 예물을 드리고 경배하기 위한 것이었습니다.
경배 후에 바로 자기들의 나라로 돌아간 것을 보아 이를 알 수 있습니다.
주님 앞에 우리의 자세를 모범적으로 보여준 것이라고 생각됩니다.
주님께 경배할 수 있고 가장 귀한 것을 드릴 수 있는 것은 우리의 특권이라는 것 말입니다.
분주한 가운데도 이 아침에 먼저 주님께 경배드립니다.
내, 주 예수님께 나의 삶을 산 제사로 온전히 드립니다.
주님의 영광이 들어나는 새로운 하루가 되기를 결단하며 기도합니다.
