17누구든지 그의 자매 곧 그의 아버지의 딸이나 그의 어머니의 딸을 데려다가 그 여자의 하체를 보고 여자는 그 남자의 하체를 보면 부끄러운 일이라 그들의 민족 앞에서 그들이 끊어질지니 그가 자기의 자매의 하체를 범하였은즉 그가 그의 죄를 담당하리라 18누구든지 월경 중의 여인과 동침하여 그의 하체를 범하면 남자는 그 여인의 근원을 드러냈고 여인은 자기의 피 근원을 드러내었음인즉 둘 다 백성 중에서 끊어지리라 19네 이모나 고모의 하체를 범하지 말지니 이는 살붙이의 하체인즉 그들이 그들의 죄를 담당하리라 20누구든지 그의 숙모와 동침하면 그의 숙부의 하체를 범함이니 그들은 그들의 죄를 담당하여 자식이 없이 죽으리라 21누구든지 그의 형제의 아내를 데리고 살면 더러운 일이라 그가 그의 형제의 하체를 범함이니 그들에게 자식이 없으리라

17“If a man takes his sister, a daughter of his father or a daughter of his mother, and sees her nakedness, and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace, and they shall be cut off in the sight of the children of their people. He has uncovered his sister’s nakedness, and he shall bear his iniquity.18 If a man lies with a woman during her menstrual period and uncovers her nakedness, he has made naked her fountain, and she has uncovered the fountain of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from among their people.19 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or of your father’s sister, for that is to make naked one’s relative; they shall bear their iniquity.20 If a man lies with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness; they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.21 If a man takes his brother’s wife, it is impurity. He has uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.22 “You shall therefore keep all my statutes and all my rules and do them, that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out.23 And you shall not walk in the customs of the nation that I am driving out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I detested them.24 But I have said to you, ‘You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples.25 You shall therefore separate the clean beast from the unclean, and the unclean bird from the clean. You shall not make yourselves detestable by beast or by bird or by anything with which the ground crawls, which I have set apart for you to hold unclean.26 You shall be holy to me, for I the LORD am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine.27 “A man or a woman who is a medium or a necromancer shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.”

A punishment was assigned for incestuous relations. Incest was categorized as a sin that threatened the order and identity of a family and therefore needed to be punished (vv. 17-21). The people of Canaan would be driven out of their land, and the holy culture of Israel would become newly established in that place. ‘Holy’ means ‘distinguished’. The Israelites needed to keep themselves from getting swept up in the Canaanite culture but to and live in a distinguished manner. For the sake of remembering this, the Israelites needed to distinguish even the meats they consumed in their daily lives according to God’s standard.
Who is God?
Vv. 22-26 God bestows ‘grace that distinguishes’ and demands ‘the responsibility of distinguishing’. This does not refer to ‘discrimination’ that divides levels and establishes a hierarchy but to ‘difference’ that relates to being ‘set apart’ from the world. Are you living a life of distinguishing and being distinguished?
What lesson is God teaching me?
V. 27 The people needed to eliminate any corrupt spiritual acts that invaded the holy community. Summoning spirits and foreseeing the future constituted acts of faithlessness. Let’s not tolerate the actions of heretical churches and religious mercenaries that tempt believers.

내가 전에 너희에게 이르기를 너희가 그들의 땅을 기업으로 받을 것이라 내가 그 땅 곧 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 너희에게 주어 유업을 삼게 하리라 하였노라 나는 너희를 만민 중에서 구별한 너희의 하나님 여호와이니라
하나님은 하나님의 백성들을 구별하셨고 어떤 상황에서든 하나님의 말씀을 지켜행하되 하나님이 가증히 여기는 풍속들을 따르지 마라고 당부하셨습니다 .
만민중에 하나님이 구별하셨다는 말씀이 참 다가옵니다. 그래서 하나님이 있게 하신 곳에서 세상풍속 뿐 아니라 하나님이 가증하게 여기는 것을 따라 행하는 것이 아니라 하나님의 백성답게 하나님의 말씀을 따라 구별되게 살라나가길 바라시는 하나님의 마음을 느낍니다.
나에게도 하나님이 그러하실 것 같습니다 . 예수님의 피로 값 주고 산 바된 내가 하나님의 자녀이면서 세상의 하나님을 믿지 않는 사람처럼 생각하고 판단하고 행동하는 자로 살지 말고 성경을 통해 보여주시는 말씀을 따라, 성령님을 따라 구별한 삶을 살아나가길 원하심을 다시 묵상하게 됩니다 .
지난 몇주간은 참 마음이 어려웠던것 같습니다 . 여러 이해 되지 않는 상황들과 , 관계적인 것들, 이 불편한 부분에서 계속 무엇을 진행해 나가는게 옳은 것인가 하나님의 뜻은 무엇인지 질문하고 또 질문했던 것 같습니다 . 이건 아니다 싶은데 덮고가야 하는건가 ? 이건 정말 하나님의 뜻인가 , 나는 제대로 못하고 있으면서 환경만 탓하고 있는 건 아닌가 ? 하나님이 끼뻐하지 않는 부분이라면 다 내려놓고 싶습니다 라며 하나님께 말씀 드렸던 것 같습니다
오늘 말씀을 묵상하면서 어떠한 상황에 있던지 나의 정체성을 잊어 버리면 안된다는 것과 하나님이 하나님의 자녀로 구별시켜 주신 것 처럼 내가 구별된 생각과 행동과 판단을 해 나가라고 말씀해 주시는 것 같습니다 :이사야서의 말씀이 생각납니다 .
