하나님의 전신 갑주를 입고 영적 싸움에 나서라고 권고합니다. 전신 갑주를 상세히 설명한 후 항상 깨어 기도하고 자신을 위해서도 기도해 달라고 당부합니다.

전신 갑주를 입으라 

10끝으로 너희가 주 안에서와 그 힘의 능력으로 강건하여지고 11마귀의 간계를 능히 대적하기 위하여 하나님의 전신 갑주를 입으라 12우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대하는 것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라 13그러므로 하나님의 전신 갑주를 취하라 이는 악한 날에 너희가 능히 대적하고 모든 일을 행한 후에 서기 위함이라

 견고하게 서라 

 14그런즉 서서 진리로 너희 허리 띠를 띠고 의의 호심경을 붙이고 15평안의 복음이 준비한 것으로 신을 신고 16모든 것 위에 믿음의 방패를 가지고 이로써 능히 악한 자의 모든 불화살을 소멸하고 17구원의 투구와 성령의 검 곧 하나님의 말씀을 가지라

 항상 깨어 기도하라

 18모든 기도와 간구를 하되 항상 성령 안에서 기도하고 이를 위하여 깨어 구하기를 항상 힘쓰며 여러 성도를 위하여 구하라 19또 나를 위하여 구할 것은 내게 말씀을 주사 나로 입을 열어 복음의 비밀을 담대히 알리게 하옵소서 할 것이니 20이 일을 위하여 내가 쇠사슬에 매인 사신이 된 것은 나로 이 일에 당연히 할 말을 담대히 하게 하려 하심이라

 21나의 사정 곧 내가 무엇을 하는지 너희에게도 알리려 하노니 사랑을 받은 형제요 주 안에서 진실한 일꾼인 두기고가 모든 일을 너희에게 알리리라 22우리 사정을 알리고 또 너희 마음을 위로하기 위하여 내가 특별히 그를 너희에게 보내었노라 23아버지 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도께로부터 평안과 믿음을 겸한 사랑이 형제들에게 있을지어다 24우리 주 예수 그리스도를 변함 없이 사랑하는 모든 자에게 은혜가 있을지어다

[ Ephesians 6:10 - 6:24 ]

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.21 So that you also may know how I am and what I am doing, Tychicus the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord will tell you everything.22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know how we are, and that he may encourage your hearts.23 Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.24 Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with love incorruptible. 

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding

Paul urges believers to put on the whole armour of God to gain victory in spiritual battle. Believers must stand against the schemes of the devil by putting on the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation, and attack with the sword of the Spirit (vv. 12-17). In addition to this, Paul commands believers to pray for supplies and support. He also requests the believers of Ephesus to support him in his fight on the frontline of the battle through prayer. Finally, Paul ends his letter with a blessing of grace and peace (vv. 18-24). 

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 10-17 We must arm ourselves in order to stand against evil spirits. Our enemies are strong and wily, so we need to trust wholly in God, have confidence in salvation and rely on the Word. Let’s reflect on ourselves to see if we are within the strong fortress of Christ, if we have sharpened the sword of the Spirit and if we are fully armed with the armour of God. 

Vv. 17-18 God’s Word and prayer are the secret to victory. We must hold onto the sword of the Spirit and always pray in the Spirit. We cannot fight in spiritual battle without the help of the Holy Spirit and prayer is a way of acknowledging the Holy Spirit’s leadership. We must also always remain awake and be cautious like soldiers heading into battle, and for this, we need prayer. No one is so safe and secure that they can live without prayer.  

Prayer

Lord, help me to gain victory in the daily spiritual battles through your Word and prayer.
