가브리엘은 다니엘이 본 환상의 의미를 해석해 주고, 그 환상을 잘 간직하라고 합니다. 환상의 주된 내용은 성도의 고난과 박해자를 향한 하나님의 심판입니다. 

[ 다니엘 8:15 - 8:27 ] (찬송549장)

환상의 뜻을 알려 주러 온 가브리엘 

15나 다니엘이 이 환상을 보고 그 뜻을 알고자 할 때에 사람 모양 같은 것이 내 앞에 섰고 16내가 들은즉 을래 강 두 언덕 사이에서 사람의 목소리가 있어 외쳐 이르되 가브리엘아 이 환상을 이 사람에게 깨닫게 하라 하더니 17그가 내가 선 곳으로 나왔는데 그가 나올 때에 내가 두려워서 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드리매 그가 내게 이르되 인자야 깨달아 알라 이 환상은 정한 때 끝에 관한 것이니라 18그가 내게 말할 때에 내가 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드리어 깊이 잠들매 그가 나를 어루만져서 일으켜 세우며 19이르되 진노하시는 때가 마친 후에 될 일을 내가 네게 알게 하리니 이 환상은 정한 때 끝에 관한 것임이라

 숫양과 숫염소 환상 해석 

 20네가 본 바 두 뿔 가진 숫양은 곧 메대와 바사 왕들이요 21털이 많은 숫염소는 곧 헬라 왕이요 그의 두 눈 사이에 있는 큰 뿔은 곧 그 첫째 왕이요 22이 뿔이 꺾이고 그 대신에 네 뿔이 났은즉 그 나라 가운데에서 네 나라가 일어나되 그의 권세만 못하리라

 작은 뿔 환상 해석 

 23이 네 나라 마지막 때에 반역자들이 가득할 즈음에 한 왕이 일어나리니 그 얼굴은 뻔뻔하며 속임수에 능하며 24그 권세가 강할 것이나 자기의 힘으로 말미암은 것이 아니며 그가 장차 놀랍게 파괴 행위를 하고 자의로 행하여 형통하며 강한 자들과 거룩한 백성을 멸하리라 25그가 꾀를 베풀어 제 손으로 속임수를 행하고 마음에 스스로 큰 체하며 또 평화로운 때에 많은 무리를 멸하며 또 스스로 서서 만왕의 왕을 대적할 것이나 그가 사람의 손으로 말미암지 아니하고 깨지리라 26이미 말한 바 주야에 대한 환상은 확실하니 너는 그 환상을 간직하라 이는 여러 날 후의 일임이라 하더라

 환상을 본 후의 다니엘 

27이에 나 다니엘이 지쳐서 여러 날 앓다가 일어나서 왕의 일을 보았느니라 내가 그 환상으로 말미암아 놀랐고 그 뜻을 깨닫는 사람도 없었느니라

[ Daniel 8:15 - 8:27 ]

15When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it. And behold, there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, and it called, “Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.”17 So he came near where I stood. And when he came, I was frightened and fell on my face. But he said to me, “Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end.”18 And when he had spoken to me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face to the ground. But he touched me and made me stand up.19 He said, “Behold, I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation, for it refers to the appointed time of the end.20 As for the ram that you saw with the two horns, these are the kings of Media and Persia.21 And the goat is the king of Greece. And the great horn between his eyes is the first king.22 As for the horn that was broken, in place of which four others arose, four kingdoms shall arise from his nation, but not with his power.23 And at the latter end of their kingdom, when the transgressors have reached their limit, a king of bold face, one who understands riddles, shall arise.24 His power shall be great—but not by his own power; and he shall cause fearful destruction and shall succeed in what he does, and destroy mighty men and the people who are the saints.25 By his cunning he shall make deceit prosper under his hand, and in his own mind he shall become great. Without warning he shall destroy many. And he shall even rise up against the Prince of princes, and he shall be broken—but by no human hand.26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings that has been told is true, but seal up the vision, for it refers to many days from now.”27 And I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days. Then I rose and went about the king’s business, but I was appalled by the vision and did not understand it. 

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding

God revealed the meaning of Daniel’s visions through the angel Gabriel. Daniel, who was deeply shaken and exhausted by his visions, lay sick for several days. The angel Gabriel revealed to him that the ram and male goat each represented the kingdoms of Media, Persia and Greece. These powerful nations would not use their strength in a just manner. They would boast of their power and persecute God’s holy people. However, these enemies of God’s kingdom would eventually be judged by the sovereign God. Daniel stored this knowledge deep in his heart (vv. 15-27).  

Who is God?

Vv. 15-18 God heals and restores us and gives us true understanding. Through Gabriel, God comforted Daniel, who was seized by fear, helped him back onto his feet and gave him understanding. With what kind of heart and attitude have you recently been approaching the Word?  Let’s pray for the ability to feel the comforting hand of God through the Word. 

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 26- 27 After seeing the visions of contemporary events and the final days, Daniel was so exhausted that he lay sick for several days. Is there a message you have received while meditating on God’s Word that has troubled you in this way? Let’s strive to abide by that word, no matter how difficult and painful it may be.

Lord, help me to endure by faith, regardless of how chaotic and dark the times or my situation may be, by remembering you always.
