[ 열왕기하 12:1 - 12:21 ] (찬송370장)

1예후의 제칠년에 요아스가 왕이 되어 예루살렘에서 사십 년간 통치하니라 그의 어머니의 이름은 시비아라 브엘세바 사람이더라 2요아스는 제사장 여호야다가 그를 교훈하는 모든 날 동안에는 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으되 3다만 산당들을 제거하지 아니하였으므로 백성이 여전히 산당에서 제사하며 분향하였더라

 4요아스가 제사장들에게 이르되 여호와의 성전에 거룩하게 하여 드리는 모든 은 곧 사람이 통용하는 은이나 각 사람의 몸값으로 드리는 은이나 자원하여 여호와의 성전에 드리는 모든 은을 5제사장들이 각각 아는 자에게서 받아들여 성전의 어느 곳이든지 파손된 것을 보거든 그것으로 수리하라 하였으나 6요아스 왕 제이십삼년에 이르도록 제사장들이 성전의 파손한 데를 수리하지 아니하였는지라 7요아스 왕이 대제사장 여호야다와 제사장들을 불러 이르되 너희가 어찌하여 성전의 파손한 데를 수리하지 아니하였느냐 이제부터는 너희가 아는 사람에게서 은을 받지 말고 그들이 성전의 파손한 데를 위하여 드리게 하라 8제사장들이 다시는 백성에게 은을 받지도 아니하고 성전 파손한 것을 수리하지도 아니하기로 동의하니라

 9제사장 여호야다가 한 궤를 가져다가 그것의 뚜껑에 구멍을 뚫어 여호와의 전문 어귀 오른쪽 곧 제단 옆에 두매 여호와의 성전에 가져 오는 모든 은을 다 문을 지키는 제사장들이 그 궤에 넣더라 10이에 그 궤 가운데 은이 많은 것을 보면 왕의 서기와 대제사장이 올라와서 여호와의 성전에 있는 대로 그 은을 계산하여 봉하고 11그 달아본 은을 일하는 자 곧 여호와의 성전을 맡은 자의 손에 넘기면 그들은 또 여호와의 성전을 수리하는 목수와 건축하는 자들에게 주고 12또 미장이와 석수에게 주고 또 여호와의 성전 파손한 데를 수리할 재목과 다듬은 돌을 사게 하며 그 성전을 수리할 모든 물건을 위하여 쓰게 하였으되 13여호와의 성전에 드린 그 은으로 그 성전의 은 대접이나 불집게나 주발이나 나팔이나 아무 금 그릇이나 은 그릇도 만들지 아니하고 14그 은을 일하는 자에게 주어 그것으로 여호와의 성전을 수리하게 하였으며 15또 그 은을 받아 일꾼에게 주는 사람들과 회계하지 아니하였으니 이는 그들이 성실히 일을 하였음이라 16속건제의 은과 속죄제의 은은 여호와의 성전에 드리지 아니하고 제사장에게 돌렸더라

 17그 때에 아람 왕 하사엘이 올라와서 가드를 쳐서 점령하고 예루살렘을 향하여 올라오고자 하므로 18유다의 왕 요아스가 그의 조상들 유다 왕 여호사밧과 여호람과 아하시야가 구별하여 드린 모든 성물과 자기가 구별하여 드린 성물과 여호와의 성전 곳간과 왕궁에 있는 금을 다 가져다가 아람 왕 하사엘에게 보냈더니 하사엘이 예루살렘에서 떠나갔더라 19요아스의 남은 사적과 그가 행한 모든 일은 유다 왕 역대지략에 기록되지 아니하였느냐 20요아스의 신복들이 일어나 반역하여 실라로 내려가는 길 가의 밀로 궁에서 그를 죽였고 21그를 쳐서 죽인 신복은 시므앗의 아들 요사갈과 소멜의 아들 여호사바드였더라 그는 다윗 성에 그의 조상들과 함께 장사되고 그의 아들 아마샤가 그를 대신하여 왕이 되니라

[ 2 Kings 12:1 - 12:21 ]

1In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.2 And Jehoash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all his days, because Jehoiada the priest instructed him.3 Nevertheless, the high places were not taken away; the people continued to sacrifice and make offerings on the high places.4 Jehoash said to the priests, “All the money of the holy things that is brought into the house of the LORD, the money for which each man is assessed—the money from the assessment of persons—and the money that a man's heart prompts him to bring into the house of the LORD,5 let the priests take, each from his donor, and let them repair the house wherever any need of repairs is discovered.”6 But by the twenty-third year of King Jehoash, the priests had made no repairs on the house.7 Therefore King Jehoash summoned Jehoiada the priest and the other priests and said to them, “Why are you not repairing the house? Now therefore take no more money from your donors, but hand it over for the repair of the house.”8 So the priests agreed that they should take no more money from the people, and that they should not repair the house.9 Then Jehoiada the priest took a chest and bored a hole in the lid of it and set it beside the altar on the right side as one entered the house of the LORD. And the priests who guarded the threshold put in it all the money that was brought into the house of the LORD.10 And whenever they saw that there was much money in the chest, the king's secretary and the high priest came up and they bagged and counted the money that was found in the house of the LORD.11 Then they would give the money that was weighed out into the hands of the workmen who had the oversight of the house of the LORD. And they paid it out to the carpenters and the builders who worked on the house of the LORD,12 and to the masons and the stonecutters, as well as to buy timber and quarried stone for making repairs on the house of the LORD, and for any outlay for the repairs of the house.13 But there were not made for the house of the LORD basins of silver, snuffers, bowls, trumpets, or any vessels of gold, or of silver, from the money that was brought into the house of the LORD,14 for that was given to the workmen who were repairing the house of the LORD with it.15 And they did not ask for an accounting from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to pay out to the workmen, for they dealt honestly.16 The money from the guilt offerings and the money from the sin offerings was not brought into the house of the LORD; it belonged to the priests.17 At that time Hazael king of Syria went up and fought against Gath and took it. But when Hazael set his face to go up against Jerusalem,18 Jehoash king of Judah took all the sacred gifts that Jehoshaphat and Jehoram and Ahaziah his fathers, the kings of Judah, had dedicated, and his own sacred gifts, and all the gold that was found in the treasuries of the house of the LORD and of the king's house, and sent these to Hazael king of Syria. Then Hazael went away from Jerusalem.19 Now the rest of the acts of Joash and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?20 His servants arose and made a conspiracy and struck down Joash in the house of Millo, on the way that goes down to Silla.21 It was Jozacar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, who struck him down, so that he died. And they buried him with his fathers in the city of David, and Amaziah his son reigned in his place.
