1 여호사밧이 부귀와 영광을 크게 떨쳤고 아합 가문과 혼인함으로 인척 관계를 맺었더라

2 이 년 후에 그가 사마리아의 아합에게 내려갔더니 아합이 그와 시종을 위하여 양과 소를 많이 잡고 함께 가서 길르앗 라못 치기를 권하였더라

3 이스라엘 왕 아합이 유다 왕 여호사밧에게 이르되 당신이 나와 함께 길르앗 라못으로 가시겠느냐 하니 여호사밧이 대답하되 나는 당신과 다름이 없고 내 백성은 당신의 백성과 다름이 없으니 당신과 함께 싸우리이다 하는지라

4 여호사밧이 또 이스라엘 왕에게 이르되 청하건대 먼저 여호와의 말씀이 어떠하신지 오늘 물어 보소서 하더라

5 이스라엘 왕이 이에 선지자 사백 명을 모으고 그들에게 이르되 우리가 길르앗 라못에 가서 싸우랴 말랴 하니 그들이 이르되 올라가소서 하나님이 그 성읍을 왕의 손에 붙이시리이다 하더라

6 여호사밧이 이르되 이 외에 우리가 물을 만한 여호와의 선지자가 여기 있지 아니하니이까 하니

7 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 아직도 이믈라의 아들 미가야 한 사람이 있으니 그로 말미암아 여호와께 물을 수 있으나 그는 내게 대하여 좋은 일로는 예언하지 아니하고 항상 나쁜 일로만 예언하기로 내가 그를 미워하나이다 하더라 여호사밧이 이르되 왕은 그런 말씀을 마소서 하니

8 이스라엘 왕이 한 내시를 불러 이르되 이믈라의 아들 미가야를 속히 오게 하라 하니라

9 이스라엘 왕과 유다 왕 여호사밧이 왕복을 입고 사마리아 성문 어귀 광장에서 각기 보좌에 앉았고 여러 선지자들이 그 앞에서 예언을 하는데

10 그나아나의 아들 시드기야는 철로 뿔들을 만들어 가지고 말하되 여호와께서 이같이 말씀하시기를 왕이 이것들로 아람 사람을 찔러 진멸하리라 하셨다 하고

11 여러 선지자들도 그와 같이 예언하여 이르기를 길르앗 라못으로 올라가서 승리를 거두소서 여호와께서 그 성읍을 왕의 손에 넘기시리이다 하더라

12 미가야를 부르러 간 사자가 그에게 말하여 이르되 선지자들의 말이 하나 같이 왕에게 좋게 말하니 청하건대 당신의 말도 그들 중 한 사람처럼 좋게 말하소서 하니

13 미가야가 이르되 여호와께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하노니 내 하나님께서 말씀하시는 것 곧 그것을 내가 말하리라 하고

14 이에 왕에게 이르니 왕이 그에게 이르되 미가야야 우리가 길르앗 라못으로 싸우러 가랴 말랴 하는지라 이르되 올라가서 승리를 거두소서 그들이 왕의 손에 넘긴 바 되리이다 하니

15 왕이 그에게 이르되 여호와의 이름으로 진실한 것 이외에는 아무것도 말하지 말라고 내가 몇 번이나 네게 맹세하게 하여야 하겠느냐 하니

16 그가 이르되 내가 보니 온 이스라엘이 목자 없는 양 같이 산에 흩어졌는데 여호와의 말씀이 이 무리가 주인이 없으니 각각 평안히 자기들의 집으로 돌아갈 것이니라 하셨나이다 하는지라

17 이스라엘 왕이 여호사밧에게 이르되 저 사람이 내게 대하여 좋은 일로 예언하지 아니하고 나쁜 일로만 예언할 것이라고 당신에게 말씀하지 아니하였나이까 하더라

18 미가야가 이르되 그런즉 왕은 여호와의 말씀을 들으소서 내가 보니 여호와께서 그의 보좌에 앉으셨고 하늘의 만군이 그의 좌우편에 모시고 섰는데

19 여호와께서 말씀하시기를 누가 이스라엘 왕 아합을 꾀어 그에게 길르앗 라못에 올라가서 죽게 할까 하시니 하나는 이렇게 하겠다 하고 하나는 저렇게 하겠다 하였는데

20 한 영이 나와서 여호와 앞에 서서 말하되 내가 그를 꾀겠나이다 하니 여호와께서 그에게 이르시되 어떻게 하겠느냐 하시니

21 그가 이르되 내가 나가서 거짓말하는 영이 되어 그의 모든 선지자들의 입에 있겠나이다 하니 여호와께서 이르시되 너는 꾀겠고 또 이루리라 나가서 그리하라 하셨은즉

22 이제 보소서 여호와께서 거짓말하는 영을 왕의 이 모든 선지자들의 입에 넣으셨고 또 여호와께서 왕에게 대하여 재앙을 말씀하셨나이다 하니

23 그나아나의 아들 시드기야가 가까이 와서 미가야의 뺨을 치며 이르되 여호와의 영이 나를 떠나 어디로 가서 네게 말씀하더냐 하는지라

24 미가야가 이르되 네가 골방에 들어가서 숨는 바로 그 날에 보리라 하더라

25 이스라엘 왕이 이르되 미가야를 잡아 시장 아몬과 왕자 요아스에게로 끌고 돌아가서

26 왕이 이같이 말하기를 이 놈을 옥에 가두고 내가 평안히 돌아올 때까지 고난의 떡과 고난의 물을 먹게 하라 하셨나이다 하니

27 미가야가 이르되 왕이 참으로 평안히 돌아오시게 된다면 여호와께서 내게 말씀하지 아니하셨으리이다 하고 또 이르되 너희 백성들아 다 들을지어다 하니라

하나님은 어떤 분입니까?

5-13절   경건한 한 사람을 남기십니다. 400명의 선지자가 아합의 비위를 맞추는 말만 늘어놓지만, 신뢰할 수 없는 사람들일 뿐입니다. 모두 아합의 권위 앞에 굽실거리는 사람들이기 때문입니다. 그러나 오직 미가야만은 왕이 듣고 싶은 말이 아니라, 하나님의 말씀을 전하겠다고 굳게 맹세합니다. 세상이 혼탁할수록 권력에 아첨하는 사람들로 넘쳐나지만, 하나님은 시대마다 흙 속의 진주처럼 꿋꿋이 정직한 길로 다니는 한 사람을 남겨 두십니다(왕상 18:22). 그 사람이 바로 나입니다.14-22절   하나님의 뜻을 분명하게 알려 주십니다. 아합이 진실한 것만 말하라고 다그치자, 미가야는 “여호와의 말씀을 들으소서”라고 선언한 후에 거짓 선지자들 때문에 아합이 죽을 것이라고 알렸습니다. 불순종하는 이유는 하나님의 뜻을 몰라서가 아니라, 하나님의 뜻 말고 내 뜻대로 하고 싶기 때문입니다. 오늘도 하나님이 확실하게 들려주신 하나님의 뜻을 애써 모르는 척하진 않습니까?

내게 주시는 교훈은 무엇입니까?

1-4절   내가 지킨 경건한 습관이 위기의 순간에 나를 지킵니다. 부국강병을 이룬 여호사밧은 우상숭배로 악명 높은 아합과 사돈지간이 되었고, 이것은 남북연합군을 결성하는 계기가 되었습니다. 이 일로 여호사밧의 신앙이 넘어질 위기를 맞지만, 그는 먼저 하나님의 말씀 듣기를 아합에게 요청합니다. ‘다윗의 처음 길로 행하던’(17:3) 여호사밧이 매사에 하나님께 묻기를 습관처럼 해 왔기 때문입니다(참조. 삼하 5:19, 23). 예수님이 고난의 순간에 기도하신 것도 습관을 따른 것이었습니다(눅 22:39). 경건한 습관은 죄의 시험에서 나를 지켜 줍니다.23-27절   고난은 의인의 그림자와 같습니다. 미가야의 예언을 들은 시드기야가 그의 뺨을 때리고, 아합은 그를 옥에 가두고 ‘고난의 떡과 물’(감옥 음식)을 먹게 하였습니다. 왕의 비위를 맞추지 않고 하나님의 말씀을 전했기에 겪는 일입니다. 불의에 맞서는 일은 고난이 예정된 가시밭길이지만, 그 길의 끝은 천국에 닿아 있습니다(마 5:10). 오늘 내가 손해를 감수해서라도 지켜야 할 의로움은 무엇입니까?

And Ahab killed an abundance of sheep and oxen for him and for the people who were with him, and induced him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.3 Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”4 And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Inquire first for the word of the LORD.”5 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?” And they said, “Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king.”6 But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not here another prophet of the LORD of whom we may inquire?”7 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil.” And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say so.”8 Then the king of Israel summoned an officer and said, “Bring quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah.”9 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting on their thrones, arrayed in their robes. And they were sitting at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets were prophesying before them.10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself horns of iron and said, “Thus says the LORD, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians until they are destroyed.’”11 And all the prophets prophesied so and said, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and triumph. The LORD will give it into the hand of the king.”12 And the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, “Behold, the words of the prophets with one accord are favorable to the king. Let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably.”13 But Micaiah said, “As the LORD lives, what my God says, that I will speak.”14 And when he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I refrain?” And he answered, “Go up and triumph; they will be given into your hand.”15 But the king said to him, “How many times shall I make you swear that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?”16 And he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the LORD said, ‘These have no master; let each return to his home in peace.’”17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”18 And Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.19 And the LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab the king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said one thing, and another said another.20 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, saying, ‘I will entice him.’ And the LORD said to him, ‘By what means?’21 And he said, ‘I will go out, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.’22 Now therefore behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets. The LORD has declared disaster concerning you.”23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go from me to speak to you?”24 And Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.”25 And the king of Israel said, “Seize Micaiah and take him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son,26 and say, ‘Thus says the king, Put this fellow in prison and feed him with meager rations of bread and water until I return in peace.’”27 And Micaiah said, “If you return in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Hear, all you peoples!”

Jehoshaphat formed an alliance with Ahab, king of Israel. When Ahab proposed that they join forces to recapture Ramoth-gilead, Jehoshaphat suggested that they first seek the word of the Lord. The 400 false prophets summoned by Ahab declared that they would be victorious in battle (vv. 1-11). At Jehoshaphat's suggestion, Micaiah was also called. Standing before the kings, Micaiah fearlessly proclaimed God's judgment against Ahab. Blinded by their own authority and power, Ahab and the false prophets persecuted Micaiah (vv. 12-27).

여호사밧은 이스라엘 왕 아합과 혼인 동맹을 맺었습니다. 힘을 합쳐 길르앗 라못을 되찾아 오자는 아합의 제안에 여호사밧은 먼저 하나님의 말씀을 듣자고 제안합니다. 아합이 데려온 400명의 거짓 예언자들은 길르앗 라못에서 승리할 것이라 합니다(1-11절). 여호사밧의 제안으로 불려와 아합왕 앞에 선 미가야는 죽음을 두려워하지 않고 아합을 향한 하나님의 심판을 선언했습니다. 그러자 권력을 가진 아합과 권력에 빌붙은 거짓 예언자가 미가야를 박해했습니다(12-27절).

What lesson is God teaching me?

V. 7 The decisive difference between Ahab’s wickedness and Jehoshaphat’s righteousness was their attitude toward prophecies that were difficult to hear. When we shut our ears to words that challenge our own thinking or make us uncomfortable, we risk missing out God's voice. Since we are not perfect, we must be willing to open our hearts and listen with humility

.악한 아합과 의로운 여호사밧의 결정적인 차이는 귀에 거슬리는 예언을 대하는 태도였습니다. 내 생각과 다르고 내게 거슬리는 말이라고 귀를 닫으면 하나님의 말씀까지 놓칠 수 있습니다. 우리는 완벽하지 못하기에 낯설고 불편한 말일지라도 우선 마음을 열고 듣는 자세가 필요합니다.

Vv. 23-27 King Ahab and his prophets threatened Micaiah and threw him into prison. If we expect God's words to always be welcomed and praised by people, we will be disappointed. Mockery and persecution are often the response—but even so, we must never stop proclaiming God's truth to the world.

아합왕과 그의 예언자들이 미가야를 위협합니다. 말씀이 늘 환영과 찬사를 받을 것이라 기대하면 실망할 것입니다. 조롱과 핍박을 받는 일이 더 많겠지만, 그럼에도 세상에 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 일을 멈추지 말아야 합니다.
