1 이 모든 일이 끝나매 거기에 있는 이스라엘 무리가 나가서 유다 여러 성읍에 이르러 주상들을 깨뜨리며 아세라 목상들을 찍으며 유다와 베냐민과 에브라임과 므낫세 온 땅에서 산당들과 제단들을 제거하여 없애고 이스라엘 모든 자손이 각각 자기들의 본성 기업으로 돌아갔더라

2 히스기야가 제사장들과 레위 사람들의 반열을 정하고 그들의 반열에 따라 각각 그들의 직임을 행하게 하되 곧 제사장들과 레위 사람들에게 번제와 화목제를 드리며 여호와의 휘장 문에서 섬기며 감사하며 찬송하게 하고

3 또 왕의 재산 중에서 얼마를 정하여 여호와의 율법에 기록된 대로 번제 곧 아침과 저녁의 번제와 안식일과 초하루와 절기의 번제에 쓰게 하고

4 또 예루살렘에 사는 백성을 명령하여 제사장들과 레위 사람들 몫의 음식을 주어 그들에게 여호와의 율법을 힘쓰게 하라 하니라

5 왕의 명령이 내리자 곧 이스라엘 자손이 곡식과 포도주와 기름과 꿀과 밭의 모든 소산의 첫 열매들을 풍성히 드렸고 또 모든 것의 십일조를 많이 가져왔으며

6 유다 여러 성읍에 사는 이스라엘과 유다 자손들도 소와 양의 십일조를 가져왔고 또 그들의 하나님 여호와께 구별하여 드릴 성물의 십일조를 가져왔으며 그것을 쌓아 여러 더미를 이루었는데

7 셋째 달에 그 더미들을 쌓기 시작하여 일곱째 달에 마친지라

8 히스기야와 방백들이 와서 쌓인 더미들을 보고 여호와를 송축하고 그의 백성 이스라엘을 위하여 축복하니라

9 히스기야가 그 더미들에 대하여 제사장들과 레위 사람들에게 물으니

10 사독의 족속 대제사장 아사랴가 그에게 대답하여 이르되 백성이 예물을 여호와의 전에 드리기 시작함으로부터 우리가 만족하게 먹었으나 남은 것이 많으니 이는 여호와께서 그의 백성에게 복을 주셨음이라 그 남은 것이 이렇게 많이 쌓였나이다

11 그 때에 히스기야가 명령하여 여호와의 전 안에 방들을 준비하라 하므로 그렇게 준비하고

12 성심으로 그 예물과 십일조와 구별한 물건들을 갖다 두고 레위 사람 고나냐가 그 일의 책임자가 되고 그의 아우 시므이는 부책임자가 되며

13 여히엘과 아사시야와 나핫과 아사헬과 여리못과 요사밧과 엘리엘과 이스마갸와 마핫과 브나야는 고나냐와 그의 아우 시므이의 수하에서 보살피는 자가 되니 이는 히스기야 왕과 하나님의 전을 관리하는 아사랴가 명령한 바이며

14 동문지기 레위 사람 임나의 아들 고레는 즐거이 하나님께 드리는 예물을 맡아 여호와께 드리는 것과 모든 지성물을 나눠 주며

15 그의 수하의 에덴과 미냐민과 예수아와 스마야와 아마랴와 스가냐는 제사장들의 성읍들에 있어서 직임을 맡아 그의 형제들에게 반열대로 대소를 막론하고 나눠 주되

16 삼 세 이상으로 족보에 기록된 남자 외에 날마다 여호와의 전에 들어가서 그 반열대로 직무에 수종드는 자들에게 다 나눠 주며

17 또 그들의 족속대로 족보에 기록된 제사장들에게 나눠 주며 이십세 이상에서 그 반열대로 직무를 맡은 레위 사람들에게 나눠 주며

18 또 그 족보에 기록된 온 회중의 어린 아이들 아내들 자녀들에게 나눠 주었으니 이 회중은 성결하고 충실히 그 직분을 다하는 자며

19 각 성읍에서 등록된 사람이 있어 성읍 가까운 들에 사는 아론 자손 제사장들에게도 나눠 주되 제사장들의 모든 남자와 족보에 기록된 레위 사람들에게 나눠 주었더라

20 히스기야가 온 유다에 이같이 행하되 그의 하나님 여호와 보시기에 선과 정의와 진실함으로 행하였으니

21 그가 행하는 모든 일 곧 하나님의 전에 수종드는 일에나 율법에나 계명에나 그의 하나님을 찾고 한 마음으로 행하여 형통하였더라

내게 주시는 교훈은 무엇입니까?

1절   유월절을 지키고 민족적인 큰 기쁨을 경험한 백성은 자발적으로 주상들을 깨뜨리고 아세라 목상들을 찍으며, 온 땅의 산당과 제단들을 제거했습니다. 유다를 넘어 북이스라엘까지 이르는 범국가적인 신앙운동이 일어난 것입니다. 진정한 예배는 기쁨을 안겨 줄 뿐만 아니라 삶을 변화시킵니다. 나의 예배는 어떻게 나의 삶으로 이어집니까?2절   히스기야는 제사장들과 레위인의 조직을 정비해 성전 사역이 질서 있게 이루어질 수 있게 했습니다. 화목제를 드리고 휘장 문에서 섬기며 감사하고 찬송하는 직무가 정상적으로 시행될 수 있도록 일꾼들을 세운 것입니다. 규모 있는 조직과 적절한 직무의 배정은 건강한 공동체를 세우는 데 꼭 필요합니다.3절   히스기야는 성전 예배에 드는 비용을 위하여 자신의 재산 중 얼마를 헌금했습니다. 모든 짐을 백성에게 미루지 않고 기꺼이 짐을 짐으로 함께하는 지도자의 본을 보였습니다. 공동체의 구성원으로서 내게 맡겨진 짐을 다른 사람에게 미루지 않고 기꺼이 감당하고 있습니까?4-19절   히스기야는 성전 봉사자들의 생계를 보장하기 위해 예루살렘 주민에게 제사장과 레위 사람의 몫을 가져오라고 명령합니다. 백성은 ‘모든 소산의 첫 열매’와 ‘모든 것의 십일조’가 ‘더미’가 될 정도로 풍성히 가져왔습니다. 넘치는 예물의 관리를 위해 히스기야는 예물을 보관할 장소를 마련하고 관리자를 세웠으며, 예물의 접수와 지급을 담당할 사람을 세우고 지급 대상을 정하여 지급 체계를 마련했습니다. 자원해서 예물을 드리는 아름다운 일 뒤에는 예물을 투명하게 관리하고 적절하게 지출하는 세심함이 따라야 합니다.20-21절   히스기야의 개혁은 그가 하나님 보시기에 착하고(선), 올바르고(정의), 진실하게 일하려고 최선을 다해 이룬 성취였습니다. 개혁의 결과만 부러워할 게 아니라 개혁의 태도를 배워야 합니다. 히스기야의 태도를 본받아서 자기 삶과 공동체를 ‘하나님 보시기에’ 아름답게 개혁해 갑시다.

1Now when all this was finished, all Israel who were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke in pieces the pillars and cut down the Asherim and broke down the high places and the altars throughout all Judah and Benjamin, and in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the people of Israel returned to their cities, every man to his possession.2 And Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and of the Levites, division by division, each according to his service, the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and peace offerings, to minister in the gates of the camp of the LORD and to give thanks and praise.3 The contribution of the king from his own possessions was for the burnt offerings: the burnt offerings of morning and evening, and the burnt offerings for the Sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed feasts, as it is written in the Law of the LORD.4 And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the Law of the LORD.5 As soon as the command was spread abroad, the people of Israel gave in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field. And they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything.6 And the people of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of the dedicated things that had been dedicated to the LORD their God, and laid them in heaps.7 In the third month they began to pile up the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month.8 When Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and his people Israel.9 And Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites about the heaps.10 Azariah the chief priest, who was of the house of Zadok, answered him, “Since they began to bring the contributions into the house of the LORD, we have eaten and had enough and have plenty left, for the LORD has blessed his people, so that we have this large amount left.”11 Then Hezekiah commanded them to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD, and they prepared them.12 And they faithfully brought in the contributions, the tithes, and the dedicated things. The chief officer in charge of them was Conaniah the Levite, with Shimei his brother as second,13 while Jehiel, Azaziah, Nahath, Asahel, Jerimoth, Jozabad, Eliel, Ismachiah, Mahath, and Benaiah were overseers assisting Conaniah and Shimei his brother, by the appointment of Hezekiah the king and Azariah the chief officer of the house of God.14 And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, keeper of the east gate, was over the freewill offerings to God, to apportion the contribution reserved for the LORD and the most holy offerings.15 Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah were faithfully assisting him in the cities of the priests, to distribute the portions to their brothers, old and young alike, by divisions,16 except those enrolled by genealogy, males from three years old and upward—all who entered the house of the LORD as the duty of each day required—for their service according to their offices, by their divisions.17 The enrollment of the priests was according to their fathers' houses; that of the Levites from twenty years old and upward was according to their offices, by their divisions.18 They were enrolled with all their little children, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, the whole assembly, for they were faithful in keeping themselves holy.19 And for the sons of Aaron, the priests, who were in the fields of common land belonging to their cities, there were men in the several cities who were designated by name to distribute portions to every male among the priests and to everyone among the Levites who was enrolled.20 Thus Hezekiah did throughout all Judah, and he did what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God.21 And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.

Thinking & Understanding

After the Passover celebration, the people destroyed all the idols, high places, and altars they encountered on their home. King Hezekiah then appointed priests by division and implemented further reforms in the temple. He entrusted the responsibilities of worship to the priests and Levites, provided for their offerings, and ensured the temple worship would continue uninterrupted. He also made the people of Judah responsible for the livelihood of the priests and Levites so that they could fully dedicate themselves to the service of God (vv. 1-10). Hezekiah established a place to store the offerings, appointed trustworthy managers, and created a system for distributing the contributions. Hezekiah gave his best effort, and his reforms were successful (vv. 11-21).

예배를 마친 후 백성들은 돌아가는 길 곳곳에 있던 우상과 산당과 제단을 모조리 없앴습니다. 히스기야왕은 이제 예배 제도를 정비합니다. 제사장과 레위 사람에게 예배를 맡기고, 제물을 공급하여 성전에서 예배가 끊이지 않게 합니다. 제사장과 레위 사람들이 성전 예배에 삶을 바칠 수 있도록, 백성들이 그들의 생계를 책임지게 합니다(1-10절). 또 예물을 보관할 장소를 마련하고 관리자를 세웠으며, 지급 대상을 정하고 지급 체계를 마련했습니다. 히스기야는 최선을 다했고, 개혁은 성공적으로 마무리되었습니다(11-21절).

What lesson is God teaching me?

V. 1 The people willingly destroyed their idols. After experiencing God's blessing through the Passover, their response to true worship was a wholehearted decision to eradicate every trace of idolatry from their lives. Is the fruit of my worship evident in the purification of my heart and the pursuit of holiness?

백성들이 자발적으로 우상을 부숩니다. 유월절을 통해 하나님의 축복을 경험한 백성이 적극적으로 우상을 척결함으로 예배에 응답한 것입니다. 예배의 감격이 삶의 정화로 이어지는 영적 순기능이 나에게도 잘 작동하고 있습니까?

Vv. 20-21 Do not settle for merely wishing for the benefits of spiritual reform—learn and apply the attitude required to bring it about. Hezekiah brought reform by doing his best to live with goodness, honesty, and sincerity before God. True reform is never easy, but let us follow Hezekiah's attitude and example to reform our lives and churches in a way that is beautiful in God's sight.

개혁의 결과만 부러워하지 말고 개혁의 태도를 배우십시오. 히스기야의 개혁은 그가 하나님 앞에서 선하고 정직하고 진실하게 일하려고 최선을 다해 이룬 성취였습니다. 개혁이 쉽진 않지만, 히스기야의 태도를 본받아서 자기 삶과 공동체를 하나님 보시기에 아름답게 개혁해 갑시다
