원하던 예언을 듣지 못하자 발락은 발람에게 분노하면서 계약을 어긴 발람에게 아무것도 줄 것이 없다고 말합니다. 발람은 마지막 예언을 하고 떠납니다.

[ 민수기 24:10 - 24:25 ] (찬송564장)

10발락이 발람에게 노하여 손뼉을 치며 말하되 내가 그대를 부른 것은 내 원수를 저주하라는 것이어늘 그대가 이같이 세 번 그들을 축복하였도다 11그러므로 그대는 이제 그대의 곳으로 달아나라 내가 그대를 높여 심히 존귀하게 하기로 뜻하였더니 여호와께서 그대를 막아 존귀하지 못하게 하셨도다 12발람이 발락에게 이르되 당신이 내게 보낸 사신들에게 내가 말하여 이르지 아니하였나이까 13가령 발락이 그 집에 가득한 은금을 내게 줄지라도 나는 여호와의 말씀을 어기고 선악간에 내 마음대로 행하지 못하고 여호와께서 말씀하신 대로 말하리라 하지 아니하였나이까

 14이제 나는 내 백성에게로 돌아가거니와 들으소서 내가 이 백성이 후일에 당신의 백성에게 어떻게 할지를 당신에게 말하리이다 하고 15예언하여 이르기를 브올의 아들 발람이 말하며 눈을 감았던 자가 말하며 16하나님의 말씀을 듣는 자가 말하며 지극히 높으신 자의 지식을 아는 자, 전능자의 환상을 보는 자, 엎드려서 눈을 뜬 자가 말하기를 17내가 그를 보아도 이 때의 일이 아니며 내가 그를 바라보아도 가까운 일이 아니로다 한 별이 야곱에게서 나오며 한 규가 이스라엘에게서 일어나서 모압을 이쪽에서 저쪽까지 쳐서 무찌르고 또 셋의 자식들을 다 멸하리로다 18그의 원수 에돔은 그들의 유산이 되며 그의 원수 세일도 그들의 유산이 되고 그와 동시에 이스라엘은 용감히 행동하리로다 19주권자가 야곱에게서 나서 남은 자들을 그 성읍에서 멸절하리로다 하고

 20또 아말렉을 바라보며 예언하여 이르기를 아말렉은 민족들의 으뜸이나 그의 종말은 멸망에 이르리로다 하고 21또 겐 족속을 바라보며 예언하여 이르기를 네 거처가 견고하고 네 보금자리는 바위에 있도다 22그러나 가인이 쇠약하리니 나중에는 앗수르의 포로가 되리로다 하고 23또 예언하여 이르기를 슬프다 하나님이 이 일을 행하시리니 그 때에 살 자가 누구이랴 24깃딤 해변에서 배들이 와서 앗수르를 학대하며 에벨을 괴롭힐 것이나 그도 멸망하리로다 하고 25발람이 일어나 자기 곳으로 돌아가고 발락도 자기 길로 갔더라

10And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. And Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and behold, you have blessed them these three times.11 Therefore now flee to your own place. I said, ‘I will certainly honor you,’ but the LORD has held you back from honor.”12 And Balaam said to Balak, “Did I not tell your messengers whom you sent to me,13 ‘If Balak should give me his house full of silver and gold, I would not be able to go beyond the word of the LORD, to do either good or bad of my own will. What the LORD speaks, that will I speak’?14 And now, behold, I am going to my people. Come, I will let you know what this people will do to your people in the latter days.”15 And he took up his discourse and said, “The oracle of Balaam the son of Beor, the oracle of the man whose eye is opened,16 the oracle of him who hears the words of God, and knows the knowledge of the Most High, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down with his eyes uncovered:17 I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth.18 Edom shall be dispossessed; Seir also, his enemies, shall be dispossessed. Israel is doing valiantly.19 And one from Jacob shall exercise dominion and destroy the survivors of cities!”20 Then he looked on Amalek and took up his discourse and said, “Amalek was the first among the nations, but its end is utter destruction.”21 And he looked on the Kenite, and took up his discourse and said, “Enduring is your dwelling place, and your nest is set in the rock.22 Nevertheless, Kain shall be burned when Asshur takes you away captive.”23 And he took up his discourse and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?24 But ships shall come from Kittim and shall afflict Asshur and Eber; and he too shall come to utter destruction.”25 Then Balaam rose and went back to his place. And Balak also went his way.
