24이 후에 아람 왕 벤하닷이 그의 온 군대를 모아 올라와서 사마리아를 에워싸니 25아람 사람이 사마리아를 에워싸므로 성중이 크게 주려서 나귀 머리 하나에 은 팔십 세겔이요 비둘기 똥 사분의 일 갑에 은 다섯 세겔이라 하니

 26이스라엘 왕이 성 위로 지나갈 때에 한 여인이 외쳐 이르되 나의 주 왕이여 도우소서 27왕이 이르되 여호와께서 너를 돕지 아니하시면 내가 무엇으로 너를 도우랴 타작 마당으로 말미암아 하겠느냐 포도주 틀로 말미암아 하겠느냐 하니라 28또 이르되 무슨 일이냐 하니 여인이 대답하되 이 여인이 내게 이르기를 네 아들을 내놓아라 우리가 오늘 먹고 내일은 내 아들을 먹자 하매 29우리가 드디어 내 아들을 삶아 먹었더니 이튿날에 내가 그 여인에게 이르되 네 아들을 내놓아라 우리가 먹으리라 하나 그가 그의 아들을 숨겼나이다 하는지라 30왕이 그 여인의 말을 듣고 자기 옷을 찢으니라 그가 성 위로 지나갈 때에 백성이 본즉 그의 속살에 굵은 베를 입었더라

 31왕이 이르되 사밧의 아들 엘리사의 머리가 오늘 그 몸에 붙어 있으면 하나님이 내게 벌 위에 벌을 내리실지로다 하니라 32그 때에 엘리사가 그의 집에 앉아 있고 장로들이 그와 함께 앉아 있는데 왕이 자기 처소에서 사람을 보냈더니 그 사자가 이르기 전에 엘리사가 장로들에게 이르되 너희는 이 살인한 자의 아들이 내 머리를 베려고 사람을 보내는 것을 보느냐 너희는 보다가 사자가 오거든 문을 닫고 문 안에 들이지 말라 그의 주인의 발소리가 그의 뒤에서 나지 아니하느냐 하고 33무리와 말을 할 때에 그 사자가 그에게 이르니라 왕이 이르되 이 재앙이 여호와께로부터 나왔으니 어찌 더 여호와를 기다리리요

 7:1엘리사가 이르되 여호와의 말씀을 들을지어다 여호와께서 이르시되 내일 이맘때에 사마리아 성문에서 고운 밀가루 한 스아를 한 세겔로 매매하고 보리 두 스아를 한 세겔로 매매하리라 하셨느니라 2그 때에 왕이 그의 손에 의지하는 자 곧 한 장관이 하나님의 사람에게 대답하여 이르되 여호와께서 하늘에 창을 내신들 어찌 이런 일이 있으리요 하더라 엘리사가 이르되 네가 네 눈으로 보리라 그러나 그것을 먹지는 못하리라 하니라

24Afterward Ben-hadad king of Syria mustered his entire army and went up and besieged Samaria.25 And there was a great famine in Samaria, as they besieged it, until a donkey's head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five shekels of silver.26 Now as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”27 And he said, “If the LORD will not help you, how shall I help you? From the threshing floor, or from the winepress?”28 And the king asked her, “What is your trouble?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’29 So we boiled my son and ate him. And on the next day I said to her, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him.’ But she has hidden her son.”30 When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes—now he was passing by on the wall—and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth beneath on his body—31and he said, “May God do so to me and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on his shoulders today.”32 Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Now the king had dispatched a man from his presence, but before the messenger arrived Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent to take off my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door and hold the door fast against him. Is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?”33 And while he was still speaking with them, the messenger came down to him and said, “This trouble is from the LORD! Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”1 But Elisha said, “Hear the word of the LORD: thus says the LORD, Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.”2 Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, “If the LORD himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” But he said, “You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”
