믿음을 세우는 기억들, Faith-Building Memories [ 예레미야 애가 3:19 - 3:26 ] - 찬송가 384 장
주의 성실하심이 크시도소이다. (예레미야애가 3:23 )
음악이 울려 퍼지는 예배당 안에 들어서면서 송년 모임에 참석한 사람들을 둘러보았습니다. 지난해의 기도 제목들을 회상하니 기쁨과 소망이 내 마음에 가득했습니다. 우리 성도들은 부모 말을 안 듣는 아이들과, 사랑하는 사람들의 죽음과, 직장을 잃은 사람들과, 깨어진 관계들을 가지고 다 함께 슬퍼했었습니다. 그러나 우리는 또한 회심을 한 사람들과 치유된 관계들을 생각하며 하나님의 은혜를 경험하기도 했었습니다. 우리는 믿음의 승리와 결혼과 졸업과 하나님의 가족이 되는 침례의 순간들을 함께 기뻐했습니다. 또한 새로 태어나거나 입양된 아기들, 그리고 주님께 헌신하는 아이들 등, 정말 많은 사람들을 기쁨으로 맞이했습니다.
예레미야가 그의 “고초”와 “담즙”을 회상했듯이(애 3:19), 우리 교회 성도들이 겪은 시련의 역사를 되돌아보면서 나는 “여호와의 인자와 긍휼이 무궁하시므로 우리가 진멸되지 않는다”(22절)는 것을 믿었습니다. 예레미야 선지자가 지난날의 하나님의 신실하셨음을 다시 확신했듯이, “기다리는 자에게나 구하는 영혼들에게 여호와는 선하시도다”(25절)라는 그의 고백이 나를 위로해주었습니다.
그날 밤 우리 성도들 한 사람 한 사람은 삶을 변화시키시는 하나님의 사랑을 눈으로 보여주는 증인들이었습니다. 우리는 앞으로 무슨 일을 만나든지 서로 의지하는 그리스도의 지체들로서 주님을 의지할 수 있게 되었습니다. 그리고 계속해서 주님을 찾고 서로를 도와주면 우리도 예레미야처럼 하나님의 변함없는 성품과 신실하심을 기억하며 믿음이 더 강해져서 더 확실한 소망을 갖게 될 것입니다.
• 주님, 우리의 과거를 사용하여 우리의 소망이 주님의 영원한 신실하심 안에서 안전하다는 것을 확신시켜 주시니 감사드립니다.
* 새해를 바라보며 하나님은 언제나 신실하셨고 또 언제나 신실하실 것을 기억하자.
19. ○내 고초와 재난 곧 쑥과 담즙을 기억하소서
20. 내 마음이 그것을 기억하고 내가 낙심이 되오나
21. 이것을 내가 내 마음에 담아 두었더니 그것이 오히려 나의 소망이 되었사옴은
22. 여호와의 인자와 긍휼이 무궁하시므로 우리가 진멸되지 아니함이니이다
23. 이것들이 아침마다 새로우니 주의 성실하심이 크시도소이다
24. 내 심령에 이르기를 여호와는 나의 기업이시니 그러므로 내가 그를 바라리라 하도다
25. 기다리는 자들에게나 구하는 영혼들에게 여호와는 선하시도다
26. 사람이 여호와의 구원을 바라고 잠잠히 기다림이 좋도다

Faith-Building Memories [ Lamentations 3:19 - 3:26 ] - hymn 384
Great is your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:23)
As I stepped into the music-filled sanctuary, I looked around at the crowd that had gathered for a New Year’s Eve party. Joy lifted my heart with hope, as I recalled the prayers of the previous year. Our congregation had collectively grieved over wayward children, deaths of loved ones, job losses, and broken relationships. But we’d also experienced God’s grace as we recalled changed hearts and healed personal connections. We’d celebrated victories, weddings, graduations, and baptisms into God’s family. We’d welcomed children born, adopted, or dedicated to the Lord, and more—so much more.
Reflecting over the history of trials our church family faced, much like Jeremiah remembered his “affliction” and his “wandering”(Lam. 3:19), I believed that “because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail”(v. 22). As the prophet reassured himself of God’s past faithfulness, his words comforted me: “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him”(v. 25).
That night, each person in our congregation represented a tangible expression of God’s life-transforming love. Whatever we’d face in the years to come, as members of the interdependent body of Christ, we could rely on the Lord. And as we continue to seek Him and support one another, we can, as did Jeremiah, find our hope being ratified by faith-building memories of God’s unchanging character and dependability. Xochitl Dixon
• Lord, thank You for using our past to assure us our hope remains secure in Your everlasting faithfulness.
*As we look ahead to the new year, let’s remember that God has always been and always will be faithful.
19. I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall.
20. I well remember them, and my soul is downcast within me.
21. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope:
22. Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
23. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
24. I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him."
25. The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;
26. it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.

한 해의 마지막 날에 뒤로돌아보면 언제나 그러했듯이 혼재된 감정(mixed feeling)을 가지게 됩니다.
좀 더 열정적으로 살지 못했던 후회와 회개, 부족한 가운데서도 승리한 기쁨과 희망, 등등 ...
아마도 우리 인생의 마지막에 이르러서 뒤를 돌아보면서 똑 같은 느낌을 가지게 될 것 입니다.
그러나 한가지 분명한 것은 나는 비록 불충하고 불성실했을지라도 주님께서는 일향 성실하셨다는 사실입니다.
그러므로 나의 오늘이 있을 수 있었고 또 나의 미래가 있을 것입니다. 주님의 성실 때문입니다.
주님,
오늘로서 한해를 마감하고 새해를 맞이합니다.
주님께서 친히 일하실 것을 바라고 잠잠히 따라가겠습니다.
