등대 The Lighthouse [ 이사야 61:1 - 61:6 ] - 찬송가 286장
[주께서] 슬퍼하는 자에게 화관을 주어 그 재를 대신하며 기쁨의 기름으로 그 슬픔을 대신하며  이사야 61:3

르완다에 있는 “등대”라고 부르는 사역센터는 그 존재 자체만으로도 속량을 상징합니다. 그 등대는 1994년 인종학살 기간 동안 그 나라 대통령 소유의 호화 저택이 있었던 곳에 자리 잡고 있습니다. 이 새로운 건물은 기독교인들에 의해서 빛과 희망의 표지로 세워졌습니다. 그곳에는 지역사회를 위한 호텔, 식당, 그리고 다양한 서비스들과 함께, 새로운 세대의 기독교 지도자들을 양성하기 위한 성경학교도 있습니다. 잿더미 속에서 새로운 삶이 시작된 것입니다. ‘등대’를 건설한 사람들은 예수님을 그들의 희망과 속량의 근원으로 바라봅니다.
예수님은 안식일에 나사렛에 있는 회당에 가서 이사야의 글을 읽으시며, 자신이 주의 은혜를 선포하는 기름 부음 받은 자임을 나타내셨습니다(눅 4:14-21 참조). 주님은 상한 심령을 감싸시며 속량과 용서를 주시기 위해 오신 분이셨습니다. 예수 그리스도 안에서 우리는 잿더미에서 시작되는 아름다움을 볼 수 있습니다(사 61:3).
우리는 부족 간의 싸움으로 인해 50만 명 이상의 희생을 가져온, 도저히 이해할 수 없고 고통스럽고 또 그것에 관하여 어떤 말을 하기도 어려운 르완다 인종학살의 잔혹함을 봅니다. 하지만 우리는 주님이 이 지구상이나 천국에서 그 잔혹함을 다시 회복시켜주실 수 있음을 압니다. 슬픔 대신 기쁨의 기름을 부어주시는 주님은 가장 어두운 상황 한가운데서도 우리에게 희망을 주십니다.

 
• 주 예수님, 어떤 사람들이 고통과 고난을 겪고 있다는 것을 들을 때 우리의 마음이 아픕니다. 그들에게 자비를 베풀어주시기를 기도합니다.
예수님은 가장 어두운 상황 속에서 희망을 주시기 위해 오셨다.

1. 주 여호와의 영이 내게 내리셨으니 이는 여호와께서 내게 기름을 부으사 가난한 자에게 아름다운 소식을 전하게 하려 하심이라 나를 보내사 마음이 상한 자를 고치며 포로된 자에게 자유를, 갇힌 자에게 놓임을 선포하며
2. 여호와의 은혜의 해와 우리 하나님의 보복의 날을 선포하여 모든 슬픈 자를 위로하되
3. 무릇 시온에서 슬퍼하는 자에게 화관을 주어 그 재를 대신하며 기쁨의 기름으로 그 슬픔을 대신하며 찬송의 옷으로 그 근심을 대신하시고 그들이 의의 나무 곧 여호와께서 심으신 그 영광을 나타낼 자라 일컬음을 받게 하려 하심이라
4. 그들은 오래 황폐하였던 곳을 다시 쌓을 것이며 옛부터 무너진 곳을 다시 일으킬 것이며 황폐한 성읍 곧 대대로 무너져 있던 것들을 중수할 것이며
5. 외인은 서서 너희 양 떼를 칠 것이요 이방 사람은 너희 농부와 포도원지기가 될 것이나
6. 오직 너희는 여호와의 제사장이라 일컬음을 받을 것이라 사람들이 너희를 우리 하나님의 봉사자라 할 것이며 너희가 이방 나라들의 재물을 먹으며 그들의 영광을 얻어 자랑할 것이니라


The Lighthouse

[The Lord bestows] on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning. Isaiah 61:3

By its very existence, a ministry center in Rwanda called the “Lighthouse” symbolizes redemption. It sits on land where during the genocide in 1994 the country’s president owned a grand home. This new structure, however, has been erected by Christians as a beacon of light and hope. Housed there is a Bible institute to raise up a new generation of Christian leaders, along with a hotel, restaurant, and other services for the community. Out of the ashes has come new life. Those who built the Lighthouse look to Jesus as their source of hope and redemption.
When Jesus went to the synagogue in Nazareth on the Sabbath, He read from the book of Isaiah and announced that He was the Anointed One to proclaim the Lord’s favor (see Luke 4:14–21). He was the One who came to bind up the brokenhearted and offer redemption and forgiveness. In Jesus we see beauty coming from the ashes (Isa. 61:3).
We find the atrocities of the Rwandan genocide, when intertribal fighting cost more than a half-million lives, mind-boggling and harrowing, and we hardly know what to say about them. And yet we know that the Lord can redeem the atrocities—either here on earth or in heaven. He who bestows the oil of joy instead of mourning gives us hope even in the midst of the darkest of situations. Amy Boucher Pye

 
• Lord Jesus Christ, our hearts hurt when we hear about the pain and suffering that some endure. Have mercy, we pray.
Jesus came to bring us hope in the darkest of circumstances.

1. The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2. to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
3. and provide for those who grieve in Zion -- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
4. They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
5. Aliens will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
6. And you will be called priests of the LORD, you will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast.
