또 한 번의 기회, Another Chance [ 미가 7:1 - 7:20 ] - 찬송가 304 장
다시 우리를 불쌍히 여기셔서 우리의 죄악을 발로 밟으시고 우리의 모든 죄를 깊은 바다에 던지시리이다
미가 7:19

우리 집 가까이에 있는 중고자전거 가게에서는 버려진 자전거를 자원봉사자들이 다시 조립하여 가난한 아이들에게 나누어줍니다. 이 가게를 시작한 어니 클라크는 노숙자들과 장애인들, 그리고 일반 사회생활에 적응하려고 애쓰는 퇴역 군인들을 포함하여 여러 궁핍한 어른들에게도 자전거를 기증합니다.
이렇게 함으로써 자전거를 고쳐 다시 쓸 수 있을 뿐 아니라 때로는 받는 사람들도 새로운 출발을 하게 해줍니다. 어떤 퇴역 군인은 새로 받은 자전거를 타고 취업 면접을 보러 가기도 했습니다.
또 한 번의 기회는 사람의 인생을 바꾸기도 하는데 특히 그것이 하나님 으로부터 온 것이라면 더욱 그렇습니다. 이스라엘 백성들이 비굴하게 뇌물과 사기와 그 밖의 나쁜 죄들을 범하던 시기에 미가 선지자는 하나님의 그런 은혜를 높이 찬양했습니다. 미가의 한탄처럼 당시 “경건한 자가 세상에서 끊어졌고 정직한 자가 사람들 가운데 없었습니다”(미가 7:2).
미가는 하나님이 마땅히 악을 벌하시는 분임을 알고 있었습니다. 그러나 하나님은 사랑이시기 때문에 회개한 자들에게 한 번 더 기회를 주실 것입니다. 그 사랑에 겸허해진 미가는 이렇게 묻습니다. “주와 같은 신이 어디 있습니까? 주는 [주의 백성의 죄를 못 본 체하시고] 살아남은 주의 백성의 죄를 용서하십니다”(18절, 현대인의 성경).
우리도 용서를 구하면 하나님은 우리의 죄 때문에 우리를 버리지 않으시기 때문에 기뻐할 수 있습니다. 미가는 하나님에 대해 이렇게 선언합니다. “다시 우리를 불쌍히 여기셔서 우리의 죄악을 발로 밟으시고 우리의 모든 죄를 깊은 바다에 던지시리이다”(19절). 하나님의 사랑은 그분을 찾는 모든 사람들에게 또 한 번의 기회를 줍니다.

3. 두 손으로 악을 부지런히 행하는도다 그 지도자와 재판관은 뇌물을 구하며 권세자는 자기 마음의 욕심을 말하며 그들이 서로 결합하니
18. 주와 같은 신이 어디 있으리이까 주께서는 죄악과 그 기업에 남은 자의 허물을 사유하시며 인애를 기뻐하시므로 진노를 오래 품지 아니하시나이다
19. 다시 우리를 불쌍히 여기셔서 우리의 죄악을 발로 밟으시고 우리의 모든 죄를 깊은 바다에 던지시리이다
20. 주께서 옛적에 우리 조상들에게 맹세하신 대로 야곱에게 성실을 베푸시며 아브라함에게 인애를 더하시리이다

Another Chance [ Micah 7:1 - 7:20 ] - hymn 304
You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea. (Micah 7:19)

At the Second Chance Bike Shop near our neighborhood, volunteers rebuild cast­off bicycles and donate them to needy kids. Shop founder Ernie Clark also donates bikes to needy adults, including the homeless, the disabled, and military veterans struggling to make it in civilian life. Not only do the bicycles get a second chance, but sometimes the recipients get a new start too.One veteran used his new bike to get to a job interview.
Second chances can transform a per­ son’s life, especially when the second chance comes from God. The prophet Micah extoled such grace during a time the nation of Israel groveled in bribery, fraud, and other despicable sins. As Micah lamented, “The godly people have all dis­ appeared; not one honest person is left on the earth” (MICAH 7:2 NLT).
God would rightly punish evil, Micah knew. But being loving, He would give those who repented another chance. Humbled by such love, Micah asked, “Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people?” (V.18 NLT).
We too can rejoice that God doesn’t abandon us because of our sins if we ask for forgiveness. As Micah declared of God, “Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!” (V.19 NLT). God’s love gives second chances to all who seek Him.

* Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the grace of second chances.

1. What misery is mine! I am like one who gathers summer fruit at the gleaning of the vineyard; there is no cluster of grapes to eat, none of the early figs that I crave.
2. The godly have been swept from the land; not one upright man remains. All men lie in wait to shed blood; each hunts his brother with a net.
3. Both hands are skilled in doing evil; the ruler demands gifts, the judge accepts bribes, the powerful dictate what they desire -- they all conspire together.
18. Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.
19. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
20. You will be true to Jacob, and show mercy to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our fathers in days long ago.
