히브리서 저자는 예수님이 주신 구원의 말씀을 등한히 여기지 말라고 경고하고, 하나님이 우리를 어떻게 구원하시는지 설명합니다. 

[ 히브리서 2:1 - 2:9 ] (찬송138장)

큰 구원을 등한히 여기지 말라 

1그러므로 우리는 들은 것에 더욱 유념함으로 우리가 흘러 떠내려가지 않도록 함이 마땅하니라 2천사들을 통하여 하신 말씀이 견고하게 되어 모든 범죄함과 순종하지 아니함이 공정한 보응을 받았거든 3우리가 이같이 큰 구원을 등한히 여기면 어찌 그 보응을 피하리요 이 구원은 처음에 주로 말씀하신 바요 들은 자들이 우리에게 확증한 바니 4하나님도 표적들과 기사들과 여러 가지 능력과 및 자기의 뜻을 따라 성령이 나누어 주신 것으로써 그들과 함께 증언하셨느니라

 영광과 존귀로 관을 쓰신 예수님 

 5하나님이 우리가 말하는 바 장차 올 세상을 천사들에게 복종하게 하심이 아니니라 6그러나 누구인가가 어디에서 증언하여 이르되 사람이 무엇이기에 주께서 그를 생각하시며 인자가 무엇이기에 주께서 그를 돌보시나이까 7그를 잠시 동안 천사보다 못하게 하시며 영광과 존귀로 관을 씌우시며 8만물을 그 발 아래에 복종하게 하셨느니라 하였으니 만물로 그에게 복종하게 하셨은즉 복종하지 않은 것이 하나도 없어야 하겠으나 지금 우리가 만물이 아직 그에게 복종하고 있는 것을 보지 못하고 9오직 우리가 천사들보다 잠시 동안 못하게 하심을 입은 자 곧 죽음의 고난 받으심으로 말미암아 영광과 존귀로 관을 쓰신 예수를 보니 이를 행하심은 하나님의 은혜로 말미암아 모든 사람을 위하여 죽음을 맛보려 하심이라

[ Hebrews 2:1 - 2:9 ]

1Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.2 For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution,3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard,4 while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.5 For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.6 It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him?7 You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor,8 putting everything in subjection under his feet.” Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him.9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. 

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding

Today’s passage warns that anyone who dismisses the salvation they have received from Jesus and returns to the Jewish faith will be judged. The law that was delivered by the angels ultimately pointed to Jesus and the Gospel was delivered to them as a miracle more wondrous than angels. Jesus became lower than the angels for a moment so that he could bear the burden of suffering and death on behalf of sinners. Jesus, who was resurrected and now sits on God’s right-hand side, rules all of creation and is worshipped by the angels (vv. 1-9). 

Who is God?

Vv. 5-9 God will once again raise up people to rule all creation. Although God gave people the privilege to rule all creation in the beginning (Gen. 1:26-28), human beings lost this power and authority by committing sin. However, through Jesus, God will restore this authority. This is surely guaranteed. 

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 1-3a We must hold onto the Gospel more firmly in order to avoid falling onto the wrong path. The wrongful trends of the world confuse us and encourage us to follow things other than the Gospel. However, separation from the Gospel only leads to misfortune and wandering. We must build houses (our lives) on the foundation of the Gospel in order to remain steadfast.
