서원은 개인이 자발적으로 하나님께 드리는 신앙고백으로 하나님께 드리기로 약속했다면 반드시 지켜야 합니다.

[ 레위기 27:1 - 27:15 ] (찬송213장)

사람의 서원 

1여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 2이스라엘 자손에게 말하여 이르라 만일 어떤 사람이 사람의 값을 여호와께 드리기로 분명히 서원하였으면 너는 그 값을 정할지니 3네가 정한 값은 스무 살로부터 예순 살까지는 남자면 성소의 세겔로 은 오십 세겔로 하고 4여자면 그 값을 삼십 세겔로 하며 5다섯 살로부터 스무 살까지는 남자면 그 값을 이십 세겔로 하고 여자면 열 세겔로 하며 6일 개월로부터 다섯 살까지는 남자면 그 값을 은 다섯 세겔로 하고 여자면 그 값을 은 삼 세겔로 하며 7예순 살 이상은 남자면 그 값을 십오 세겔로 하고 여자는 열 세겔로 하라 8그러나 서원자가 가난하여 네가 정한 값을 감당하지 못하겠으면 그를 제사장 앞으로 데리고 갈 것이요 제사장은 그 값을 정하되 그 서원자의 형편대로 값을 정할지니라

 가축의 서원  

 9사람이 서원하는 예물로 여호와께 드리는 것이 가축이면 여호와께 드릴 때는 다 거룩하니 10그것을 변경하여 우열간 바꾸지 못할 것이요 혹 가축으로 가축을 바꾸면 둘 다 거룩할 것이며 11부정하여 여호와께 예물로 드리지 못할 가축이면 그 가축을 제사장 앞으로 끌어갈 것이요 12제사장은 우열간에 값을 정할지니 그 값이 제사장의 정한 대로 될 것이며 13만일 그가 그것을 무르려면 네가 정한 값에 그 오분의 일을 더할지니라

 집의 서원 

 14만일 어떤 사람이 자기 집을 성별하여 여호와께 드리려하면 제사장이 그 우열간에 값을 정할지니 그 값은 제사장이 정한 대로 될 것이며 15만일 그 사람이 자기 집을 무르려면 네가 값을 정한 돈에 그 오분의 일을 더할지니 그리하면 자기 소유가 되리라

[ Leviticus 27:1 - 27:15 ]

1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,2 “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, If anyone makes a special vow to the LORD involving the valuation of persons,3 then the valuation of a male from twenty years old up to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the shekel of the sanctuary.4 If the person is a female, the valuation shall be thirty shekels.5 If the person is from five years old up to twenty years old, the valuation shall be for a male twenty shekels, and for a female ten shekels.6 If the person is from a month old up to five years old, the valuation shall be for a male five shekels of silver, and for a female the valuation shall be three shekels of silver.7 And if the person is sixty years old or over, then the valuation for a male shall be fifteen shekels, and for a female ten shekels.8 And if someone is too poor to pay the valuation, then he shall be made to stand before the priest, and the priest shall value him; the priest shall value him according to what the vower can afford.9 “If the vow is an animal that may be offered as an offering to the LORD, all of it that he gives to the LORD is holy.10 He shall not exchange it or make a substitute for it, good for bad, or bad for good; and if he does in fact substitute one animal for another, then both it and the substitute shall be holy.11 And if it is any unclean animal that may not be offered as an offering to the LORD, then he shall stand the animal before the priest,12 and the priest shall value it as either good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall be.13 But if he wishes to redeem it, he shall add a fifth to the valuation.14 “When a man dedicates his house as a holy gift to the LORD, the priest shall value it as either good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand.15 And if the donor wishes to redeem his house, he shall add a fifth to the valuation price, and it shall be his. 

Who is God like?

Thinking & Understanding

When a vow was made involving the valuation of a person, it had to be redeemed by the payment of equivalent monetary value. In the case of the poor, the person had to stand before a priest who would then value them according to their abilities (vv. 1-8). If the vow was an animal, that animal became a holy offering. In order to redeem the animal, a fifth had to be added to the valuation. If a house was dedicated as a gift, the priest had to value it, and for the house to be redeemed, a fifth had to be added to the valuation price (vv. 9-15). 

Who is God?

Vv. 1-15 God makes his people keep their vows. Although vows could be made freely, the people had a duty to keep their vows. The execution of a vow was a public declaration of the relationship of trust between God and his people. God fully restored this relationship of trust in Christ and freely gives everything without demanding any kind of vow in return. Are you enjoying living as a child of God who can call God ‘Father’ and boldly make requests? 

V. 8 A person’s situation and abilities had to be considered. Although there was a standard for redemption, the same standard was not applied to all people. God does not demand of us the greatest contribution but the best that we can afford.
