1 옛적에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살에게 사로잡혀 바벨론으로 갔던 자들의 자손들 중에서 놓임을 받고 예루살렘과 유다 도로 돌아와 각기 각자의 성읍으로 돌아간 자

2 곧 스룹바벨과 예수아와 느헤미야와 스라야와 르엘라야와 모르드개와 빌산과 미스발과 비그왜와 르훔과 바아나 등과 함께 나온 이스라엘 백성의 명수가 이러하니

58 모든 느디님 사람과 솔로몬의 신하의 자손이 삼백구십이 명이었더라

59 델멜라와 델하르사와 그룹과 앗단과 임멜에서 올라온 자가 있으나 그들의 조상의 가문과 선조가 이스라엘에 속하였는지 밝힐 수 없었더라

60 그들은 들라야 자손과 도비야 자손과 느고다 자손이라 모두 육백오십이 명이요

61 제사장 중에는 하바야 자손과 학고스 자손과 바르실래 자손이니 바르실래는 길르앗 사람 바르실래의 딸 중의 한 사람을 아내로 삼고 바르실래의 이름을 따른 자라

62 이 사람들은 계보 중에서 자기 이름을 찾아도 얻지 못하므로 그들을 부정하게 여겨 제사장의 직분을 행하지 못하게 하고

63 방백이 그들에게 명령하여 우림과 둠밈을 가진 제사장이 일어나기 전에는 지성물을 먹지 말라 하였느니라

64 온 회중의 합계가 사만 이천삼백육십 명이요

65 그 외에 남종과 여종이 칠천삼백삼십칠 명이요 노래하는 남녀가 이백 명이요

66 말이 칠백삼십육이요 노새가 이백사십오요

67 낙타가 사백삼십오요 나귀가 육천칠백이십이었더라

68 어떤 족장들이 예루살렘에 있는 여호와의 성전 터에 이르러 하나님의 전을 그 곳에 다시 건축하려고 예물을 기쁘게 드리되

69 힘 자라는 대로 공사하는 금고에 들이니 금이 육만 천 다릭이요 은이 오천 마네요 제사장의 옷이 백 벌이었더라

70 이에 제사장들과 레위 사람들과 백성 몇과 노래하는 자들과 문지기들과 느디님 사람들이 각자의 성읍에 살았고 이스라엘 무리도 각자의 성읍에 살았더라

요약: 바벨론 포로생활에서 고향 예루살렘으로 돌아온 사람들과 그들의 뿌리를 밝힘으로써 성전 재건과 함께 공동체의 회복이 이뤄졌음을 보여 줍니다.

하나님은 어떤 분입니까?

1,70절   저마다 제 자리로 돌아와서 제 삶을 살아가도록 돌보십니다. 하나님의 뜻을 저버리고 불순종한 자들을 여러 나라로 흩으셨지만 그들을 불쌍히 여기셔서 고향으로 돌아오게 하셨습니다. 그들이 밤중에 몰래 도망치지 않고 공식적으로 당당하게 돌아와서 평화롭게 살아갈 수 있도록 길을 열어 주셨습니다(렘 46:27). 돌아온 사람들은 미가의 예언처럼 저마다 제 자리에서 분복을 누리며 평화를 누리게 되었습니다(미 4:4). 빼앗겼던 성전의 그릇들도 돌아와 제 자리에 놓이고, 낯선 곳으로 쫓겨나 흩어졌던 사람들도 제 자리에서 다시 삶을 향유할 수 있게 되었습니다. 오늘도 상실과 고통의 자리에서 새 삶의 풍경을 만들어 주시는 하나님의 일하심을 기대합니다.

내게 주시는 교훈은 무엇입니까?

1-2절   돌아온 사람들 중에서 스룹바벨과 예수아를 비롯한 지도자들의 명단은(느 7:7) 이스라엘 공동체의 온전한 회복이 시작되었음을 보여 줍니다. 성전 재건과 함께 하나님 나라의 회복을 위해 먼저 앞장선 지도자들의 발걸음이 모여서 사람들이 걸어갈 길이 되었습니다. 익숙한 곳을 떠난 아브라함의 ‘발걸음’(창 12:1)이 믿음의 ‘길’이 된 것처럼, 오늘 나의 ‘떠남’이 누구의 길을 열어 주는 ‘시작’이 될지 생각해 봅니다.3-35절   공동체는 하나의 무더기로 취급할 수 없는 고유한 ‘한 사람 한 사람’의 모임입니다. 에스라서는 돌아온 사람들의 명단에 일반 백성을 가문별로, 정착지별로 상세히 기록함으로써 공동체를 이루는 평범한 사람들의 참여를 소중히 다루고 있습니다. 오늘 우리와 함께하는 사람들이 자신의 고유함을 지킬 수 있도록 좀 더 세밀하게 살펴야 할 부분은 무엇인지 돌아봅시다.43-54,59-63절   돌아온 사람들 중에는 성전에서 외국인 대우를 받으며 일하던 사람들도, 자신의 족보를 제대로 입증하지 못하는 사람들도 있었습니다. 서로 섞여 있는 사람들로 인한 순수성의 훼손과 정체성의 혼란을 막는 것보다 하나님 나라 공동체의 회복에 누구라도 참여할 수 있도록 문을 여는 것이 더 우선임을 배웁니다.

공동체-다시 돌아오게 한 이 자리에서 공동체의 온전한 회복을 위해 마음을 기울이겠습니다.

Who is God like?

The list of exiles was recorded: families, regions, priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants, descendants of Solomon's servants, and those of uncertain lineage. Approximately 42,360 people left Babylon, where they had lived for 70 years, and returned to Jerusalem. Some leaders voluntarily offered gifts for the construction of the temple, and the people settled in their respective hometowns (vv. 1-70).

Who is God?

Vv. 1-70 God works through a small number of obedient and devoted people. The exiles were people of faith and obedience, entrusted with the mission to rebuild the temple. Although they were few in number, God began a great work through them. Even today, God continues to work through those who obey his word.

순종하고 헌신하는 소수를 통해 일하십니다. 돌아온 이들은 믿음으로 떠나온 자들이며, 성전 재건의 사명을 품은 순종의 사람들입니다. 수는 적지만, 하나님은 그들을 통해 큰일을 시작하십니다. 오늘도 하나님의 말씀에 순종하는 사람을 통해 하나님은 역사하십니다.

What lesson is God teaching me?

Vv. 43-54 There is no distinction of rank in the work of establishing God's kingdom. Among those who returned to Jerusalem were people from diverse backgrounds, and God saw those who laboured in unseen places equally, like the temple servants, who served diligently in silence. Remembering that God is watching us, let us faithfully carry out the work he has entrusted us today.

하나님 나라를 세우는 일에는 귀천이 없습니다. 예루살렘으로 돌아온 이들 중에는 다양한 배경의 사람들이 있었고, 하나님은 성전 막일꾼들처럼 보이지 않는 자리에서 수고하는 이들을 동일한 시선으로 보십니다. 하나님이 나를 보고 계심을 기억하며, 맡겨진 일을 충실히 감당합시다.
